Isn't the rip what took those girls on paddle boards out to the Aran islands a couple of years ago? You could end up anywhere.

Poor woman. Hope people heed her words.

I saw a family hitting for the beach with a large inflatable the other day, I can't imagine how stupid a mother or father must be to allow a kid into the sea with one of those.

McInerney knows well how to suck the sob story out of these tragic cases.

She's probably been the best of the candidates but I still maintain her skills are wasted here. Give it to Katie

There was a bit more to it than that.

The girls were on inflatable stand up paddle boards. There was a north wind that evening and a combination of the wind and the inflatable nature of the board brought them out into Galway Bay.

There's a brilliant podcast on the Documentary on One series about that story.

This woman is speaking so powerfully and eloquently. Regardless of the reasoning behind it (which is still v important!), this is a great piece for anyone coping with grief to listen in to.

I remember she couldn’t pronounce Vilnius - she was over there at an Ireland football match back in the 90s I think. It was “ villainous”

Can’t hear her now without thinking of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,308 ✭✭✭mountain
