Here's more info from RTE on that letter signed by 24 countries.

It's a desperate report. I think those countries are privy to information not in the direct public domain or at least in mainstream media.

"The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached "unimaginable levels", Ireland, Britain, Canada, Australia and several of their European allies have said, calling on Israel to allow unrestricted aid into the war-torn Palestinian enclave."

Watching the interview in full on Sky News just now (it's quite a long interview), nobody would be mistaken that they were watching a representative of a rogue / terrorist state. The Sky presenter was beyond exasperated.

Reminds me of the interviews on RTE with the Israeli ambassador who left in a tantrum. All she ever said in answer to any question about Israeli actions was '' But Hamas ….'' '' but Hamas ….''

Hilariously, this guy kept talking about Palestinian 'propaganda'…….whilst standing there as as a propagandist and spouting lie after lie.

That's all they ever say. It's a script that they've all learned off by heart and they just keep talking over everyone else making it impossible to grill them. It's so frustrating to watch but thankfully no one is believing their bullshit anymore and they know it.

Netanyahu's court case will be sped up in November due to time lost with it's illegal war with Iran.

    isr.jpg

In an interview with i24 last night he said 400 kg of enriched uranium in Iran was not damaged and we are closely monitoring this with Washington. We are on high alert for the possibility of Iran attempting to rebuild its nuclear program.

This guy is willing to do anything to stay out of prison and looks like he will be allowed to do anything.

I have just listened to the Sky interview with the IDF spokesperson about the murdered journalist. I don't think I have come across such a blatant and poor liar in all my life. It was abundantly clear throughout that he was lying through his teeth. Imagine your job is to you get coached a bunch of lies so that you can repeat them in the media. What an asshole. The Sky news presenter just looked at him with utter disdain.

With every passing day, as more people are killed, I become less certain that Israel has not reached the legal threshold for genocide, but, on balance, I remain unconvinced that a finding of genocide will be reached in a court of law.

The conditions for genocide are closer to being met in Sudan which strangely does not attract the same level of attention.

Another thing that mystifies me are the calls for Israel to withdraw from Gaza. I don't see similar calls for Russia to withdraw from Crimea, or China to withdraw from Tibet.

A bit more from the i24 interview from the genocidal lunatic. He is on a mission, ****ing hell.

    Whatabouttery.

    False-equivalence.

At least you're getting closer to coming around. How many more have to die before you believe yourself that it is an actual genocide?

Let's leave all other conflicts out of this, there are other threads for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,195 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

People on one side of this debate make repeated comparisons (false equivalences) between Israel's actions and the Holocaust.

However, when people on the other side of the debate make relevant comparisons with other ongoing conflicts in the world, they are told to leave all other conflicts out of this.

    The hypocrisy is clear.

Obviously that lad didn't apply to participate on the ambassador.

Yes that's correct, the Israeli version of the apprentice was a show where they had to find the best spin doctor candidate who could weave Israeli lies abroad in a positive manor. It's hard to sell killing children and forcing indigenous people of their land so you have to get your best liars on the job. Honestly the more you learn about Israel (Occupied Palestine to give it its proper name), the more you really come to hate them.

Anyway. Day 675 of the oppressors genocide on the Palestinians.

Just watched it myself - the IDF and other Israeli spokespersons have been using the same MO from day 1. It is standard practice all the way from the IDF to alleged War Criminal #1

    1. Lie
    2. Deny they are lying
    3. Lie some more
    4. Deny all corroborated evidence provided to them by interviewer
    5. Lie about their own evidence
    6. Do not answer interviewer questions
    7. Deflect some more
    8. Lie about Israel being under constant existential threat
    9. Lie about them investigating incidents and "we'll come back to you" (they never do)
    10. Accuse interviewer of being antisemitic and a Hamas/terrorist supporter
    11. Repeat after the next atrocity

There are numerous written, audio and video interviews that prove the above without a shadow of any doubt.

But after 675 days of this Genocide, the World is well and truly wise to the those constant brazen lies and Hasbara, the constant "Pogrom" "antisemite" "blood libel" accusations.

And the world doesn't believe a single word anymore. The boy who cried "wolf"…

When I say "world", that excludes those who come here and regurgitate the Israeli mouthpiece lies ad nauseum and then run away when challenged.

When people say this is a jewish program of genocide, they are called antisemites. But then the man who is orchestrating the genocide outright declares that this is a 'Mission' of Jews.

Netanyahu is the chief antisemite, in that he is claiming that all Jews should support this genocide, when the vast majority of people who oppose the genocide are careful to say that not all Jews are zionists, and that this is a zionist project that is what we should fight against, and not lump in all Jews into this category.

Netanyahu is deliberately trying to foment antisemitism, because accusing others of being antisemitic is their long standing strategy to hide the political aims of the zionist movement.

That is the thing. The legal definitions of genocide are unrelated to how many people have died.

More people have died in the Russia/Ukraine war than in Gaza, does that mean it is a genocide?

200,000 civilians from three ethnic groups were killed in Sudan between 2003 and 2005, yet there is no court finding on genocide to date. Lots of indictments, but not convictions.

You said "With every passing day, as more people are killed, I become less certain that Israel has not reached the legal threshold for genocide"

I'm not asking for a legal definition or discussing other conflicts, just simply how many more have to die before you believe yourself that it is an actual genocide?

Ori Goldberg (Israeli academic who lives in Tel Aviv) reckons the game is up for Israel. Says he doesn't know how a regime who have carried out a genocide in such plain sight and backed by most of Israeli society can survive such a calamity. He doesn't know what will come next but doesn't think it will be good at all. Interestingly, he says the mood in Israel is awful, even the large numbers of pro-genocide people know the country is in a very bad place,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,694 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

I think we're getting bogged down in legal definitions of genocide. The fact that a supposed 'western liberal democracy' has killed 60,000 people in the last two years and forcibly displaced 2m others, the vast majority of whom were non-combatants is catastrophic PR for them. Not a case of them facilitating or somehow indirectly 'causing' the deaths of 60k people, they literally killed them themselves with their own weapons.

The genocide is being called out everywhere. Must be bad when Chairman Kim starts calling the apartheid state out.

    Zero hypocrisy B.

The Israeli's are constantly invoking the Holocaust as justification for what they are doing. To draw comparisons between the Holocaust and Israel's ongoing genocide is entirely valid. I mean Katz did even use the terminology of "concentrating them in camps"….

Also if you could outline why the Sudan conflict (noticed the distraction tactic of the other thread) is closer to meeting the definition of genocide whilst the Gaza slaughter isn't? I mean the ICJ hasn't ruled on that either. Some specifics please…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭Miniegg

What "mystifies" me is you aren't defending or trying to obfuscate the mass murder happening in Sudan, or defending Russia's occupation of Crimea, or China's occupation of Tibet. You don't try to highlight all the flaws in Ukrainian and Tibetan society, and paint their people as something less deserving of human rights as you, or dare I say, Israelis are.

Because it seems to be your hobby to do all of the above that when you talk about this conflict. No wonder you are so good pointing out hypocrisy eh?

Can I ask, whilst not wanting to derail the thread too much, do you condemn the actions of the Russian military in their war on Ukraine?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,890 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Israel must be found to have committed Genocide by the ICJ. Any other finding, on the basis of the evidence before everyone's eyes, would be a miscarriage of justice.

The ICJ are well aware that Israel stuck two fingers up to it twice last year when they ignored the provisional measures the ICJ demanded Israel comply with. Israel didn't. And that was before Israel began its campaign of 11 weeks of allow zero aid into Gaza.

The evidence is overwhelming. I predict the ICJ will find that Israel has committed Genocide.

The Settlers are no better than Hamas - led by their convicted terrorist, Ben-Gvir.

Israel protects and encourages them. Israel is a terrorist State.
