EPG on non freesat tv

So, I've a TV, that is not freesat.

So I have all the FTA stuff tuned in , except for foreign language, religious, and shopping.

I realize that if I tune in , say for example channel5, it'll load now and next for all the 5 bouquet.

    Similar for channel 4.

So I was thinking of making a favourite list of channels, that I could just skip thru, that would load all the EPG data, then just go back to the full guide, and be able to see all now& next .

What channels should I put in this favorites list?

    Has anyone done this?

Here's a list of all the channels, I use this when creating new favourite lists. For most watched channels you are probably looking at 25-30 channels in the Entertainment list and maybe 2-3 from News list to have a good mix.

Thanks, but I have them all tuned in and sorted, but was going to create a short fav list, such as bbc , itv1, c4, c5 , and a few others, that I could just channel hop thru, causing all the EPG to fill.

The U channels all appear to be on the one transponder, so if you click on one all U channels now and next epg updates.

Each channel stream only carries now and next programme data.

EPG data unfortunately is proprietary to each service such as Freesat and Sky

These providers carry the epg data on separate transponders, encrypted I assume.

Another option for a full epg is the freely site, 7 day epg, it has the same range of channels as Freesat, I think. It has a recommendations section, it may have a search section I haven't found it, it might be handy.

not that it will help your situation; I’ve an LG TV and find it pretty ok freesat EPG, you can filter by sports etc (not immediately obvious how to do but not too bad when you know how. You can then use shortcuts to switch between terrestrial and freesat

You should say make and model of TV. A good workaround is to get this box ,

Manhattan SX Freesat HD Box, at richersounds.

But say TV and others may have same tv and a solution.

    It's a Sony kd65xe9005.

I 'm just looking to know what is the least amount of channels I need to flick thru, to load the now and next for all the channels, excluding religion, shopping & foreign language.

LiKe you say the C4's and C5's populate from one click, BBC1 NI, BBC2 and BBC 4 do the same. Like I said earlier the 5 U channels do the same, the following are the same, True crime, True crime X, Legend, Legend X, on one click, Really, Food, D Max, HGTV, Quest HD & Quest Red again on one click. The only ones I can't group are the ITV channel, ITV1, ITV4 and Quiz are on the same frequency, ITV2 and ITV3 are on separate frequencies. So 32 channels are populated in 6 clicks.

Sony TV's with a sat tuner defeat me!! I have 2 sony's but use Enigma2 boxes for sat etc, a lot easier, 7 day epg, record etc.

I would just put all the channels I watch most into favourites and go from there. That TV has 2 sat inputs so can record and to my way of thinking should have a full epg but…
