I have a prescription for a higher dose of Ozempic.

My GP said it's cheaper to get i from Northern Ireland.

I heard someone say on the radio recently that I canemsil my prescription to chemists up north and have it sent to me next day by courier.

Does anyone know the details please?

Ozempic is a medicine designed to treat people with type 2 diabetes. If you are diagnoised diabetic then you are entitled to a long term illness card, and Ozempic would be free for you.

Otherwise do you have a Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS) card ? It limites your medicine cost to €80 in a calendar month.

Yes I'm a diabetic and I've been getting it under the scheme for 18 months. My GP has increased the dosage and the Long Term Illness scheme doesn't cover the extra Ozempic.

I've been on 1mg and its now been doubled.

The extra 1mg per month here in my local chemist is €150.

My understanding is that these medicines don't qualify for the DPS. I drive to Newry every three months to get mine. Cheaper than ROI. They are insistent on a wet signature on the prescription. so imagine sending by email would be a challenge.
