    Hi folks

Hoping someone on here can give me some practical advice and information.

For the past few years, we have run a charity cycle challenge in our workplace, using a stationary bike along with equipment provided by a cycling shop which i think was a turbo trainer along with a bike computer / speed sensor to keep track of KM cycled.

That supplier is unavailable this year so we are looking into getting similar equipment ourselves.

    My questions would be:

    • What would be the simplest equipment to get to use this
    • What would be the expected costs
    • What sort of bike do we need to use - we have a lot of cycling commuters in the office so I would be hoping we could get the use of a suitable bike that way.

    Thanks in advance

might be worth approaching a local bike shop, to see if they could lend you kit as a charitable gesture?

yeah that's the plan but there's a bit of a knowledge gap on our side, the previous providers basically set the whole thing up for us so we don't really know what to ask for now!

I'm hoping someone had some covid-era solution that we could copy.

You pretty much have the equipment covered in your post.
You could outlay as much or as little as possible in acquiring the kit.
    - Turbo trainer: Tacx or Elite basic trainers regularly pop up for sale for around €50. I’d be surprised if nobody on the forum here has one for sale.
    - Bike: Road bike (drop bar or flat bar would suit) in medium size to suit as many people as possible? Maybe add a quick release seatpost clamp so people can raise/lower the saddle as required. Again, someone here may have a basic bike for sale. €300 max

-Electronics: bike computer and speed sensor for the rear wheel. Garmin Edge 130 + Garmin speed sensor. Maybe €100 if you’re lucky…

I have a Bikemate trainer. Comes with the skewer and front wheel rest.

It's probably 7 or 8 years old, but only used a handful of times. Bought for my wife, but she never really liked it. Ended up buying a smart trainer and Zwift.

Anyway, if it suits and you're close enough, 50 quid?

Apparently a company called 360 Cycle have agreed to supply the equipment - I'm not sure what exactly is on offer so I may be in touch with you. Thanks for your offer and the other posters for the information.
