Cycle Rack recommendations for Back Door of SUV

    Hi folks - just wondering what the learned people here would recommend for a 3 bike rack on an SUV(Hyundai Kona) back door??

    Would also consider a roof mounted option

    What weight are the bikes ( kids/ adult/ e bikes)? Have you any issues with lifting bikes onto the roof?

    does the car have a tow bar?

    most of the cheaper options will prevent access via the read hatch until the bikes are unloaded. i think it's generally only some tow bar options which might get around that limitation.

    I bought a Saris Bones EX 2 bike rack for my missus's Kona, a change of circumstances meant that it still hasn't been used but that was the best option I could find

    Having used all three (towbar rack, roof rack, boot rack) for preference I'd use the roof rack first, towbar rack next, and boot rack not at all if I could help it.

    I've a Hollywood 3-bike rack here somewhere that wasn't and won't ever be used. It's the saloon version if anyone thinks they can use it.

    Any link to that for curiosity? I am always a bit suspect of the suction type racks and an Aliexpress one would probably freak me out more 🙄but worth a look anyway

    It is pretty solid to be fair to it. I have the 2 bike version, the front has 4 suction cups and they're pretty industrial so you could probably have 2 lose suction and still be safe. But I've had no issues so far. Did a trip from Dublin to Cork and no issues.
