I've a 4 series that needs approx 2k cosmetic work due to my partners driving…. car is mechanically perfect and serviced.

Going to change the car in September and I'm weighing up if I put the 2k into it for the trade in or just see what I get against the newer car (2024 hopefully).

New motor looks on average to be around 45k.

Is it worth getting the repairs done.

I haven't brought it to get a trade in value as too busy at the moment, so just looking for some advice / experience for your good selves

    Much appreciation

A tricky one aa dealers don't want hassle of getting bodywork done . Is it a car a dealer - not sure if it will be main dealer - is likely to sell in trade or retail ?

Is getting work done and selling privately as a mint car an option ?

I have had excellent experiences of selling privately recently. All for other people!

Director in work I got 28k for his 2017 BMW X5 where trade in offer was 20k, this was later increased to 22k but still cleared an extra 6k on private sale. Took about 2 weeks. I advertised it for 31k for a few days, no interest, dropped to 30k and all of a sudden had a lot of interest at 25/26k kind of offers and accepted 28k.

Mother got offered 7.5k for 2019 Corsa against her new car I put it up for 11k and sold for 10k. A nice increase, actually another dealer that bought it. 3 or 4 day turnaround.

Im not any sort of trader or have any negotiation skills, just priced them realistically for quick sale and got good results.
