Was looking at running an aber ram with a group of horned ewes. Anyone any experience with these rams or know of any breeders?

I don't, but coincidentally I saw the Maam Cross Mart facebook page has pictures of lambs offered for sale there yesterday that were out of an Aberfield ram and I presume blackface ewes.

Probably a better ewe than the mule, well longer life span anyway. The Aber ram has become very popular in recent years

Was thinking of trying an Aber on some Lanark ewes. Anyone know of any for sale, or a sale selling them, TIA

Aber ram in big boy sale made almost 1900 I saw in the sale this evening, only 4 entered and all made over 1000 euro. Seemed an expensive sale overall but great quality

TTat big boy sale seems to be either a boom or bust type sale

David Beattie had a poor day at the office with the lleyns. As mentioned in 1 of the Youtube comments his sheep are tall & not great conformation, Very stylish ok but wouldn't hectic for k/o , more maternal imo

I had a look at them at the sale. They seem narrow in the chest.

I wouldn't like to be lambing them sufftex lambs. There was a good few at the sale. Awful brutes of sheep tbh. Surely you would be better buying a pure of either breed?

Only went in for a look as I live close but i thought last years was better. We say in the stand they had and as soon as a good lot came in you couldn't see the ring. I missed the Aberfeld rams.
