A right how-do-you-do on the side of the road.

Who uses these? BB guns? Motor cyclists?

I've no idea how it got into my kit bag.

Two photos taken today in Co Kildare but almost the length of the county apart, the sunflowers are close to the Carlow border, whereas the poppies are almost in Co Meath

For those of you frequenting the Barrow blueway, there's a new coffee dock about a kilometre from Clogheen bridge (basically as you leave Monasterevin) head Athy direction

    1000028885.jpg 1000028886.jpg

Did a bit of exploring, and accidentally picked up the kom for a loop of this lake

    Finally, an obligatory gate shot

There seems to be a manufacturer mark, but I couldn't really make it out

Looks like Bryan's of Bride Street (Dublin).

It was a long day and I'll have to go again as a piece of off road is unrideable.

A defunct section of the old Dublin Belfast road at Lissenhall, north of Swords. The white line along the centre is still visible as are a few cats eyes. The road closed around 1984 when the dual carriageway bypassing Swords opened. The original bridge dates from 1500 and is believed to have been incorporated into the reconstruction of the bridge in the 1800’s.

Short 50km gravel route yesterday evening over a variety of surfaces ( on the wrong bike). Highest elevation was crossing the motorway on an elevated cycle path and was never more than 5km from an urban area. Even managed the now customary thatched cottage and gate pic x2

    Royal Canal @ Cloncurry...

    1000048130.jpg

Edit: you can see the 11th Century Cloncurry Motte just above the third carriage of the train. Completely man-made, there would have been a wooden Norman castle on the top of this but in the last two centuries or so, an Ash tree has been growing on the hill. However, it recently died (I think in a recent storm) and apparently the wood has been used for other things: see Instagram and Instagram

Hey @brokenbad, put that Tayto and pint back, everyone knows @cletus owns that!

Ash dieback the main culprit maybe? Sad to see a venerable tree go like that though

Nah, I think it may have been one of the big storms but typically I cant find anything about it now

I'm a big fan of Statshunters, and I like to collect tiles on the map. The more you get, though, the trickier the remaking ones become. I won't explain each photo, suffice to say there was hike-a-bike

And finally, this cheeky little fucker crossed the path in front of me, and sat on the bank watching me

    Top of Kippure.

~120km & 1400m, where I worked so much harder on the return (off to the Alps so I'm concentrating on HR not power/speed so I don't blow up on their climbs). Lads were on a mission to get home.

Latest installment of my Flandrian adventures saw me going 30km off route when attempting to follow a canal path. I somehow took the wrong turn at a canal intersection and ended up in the Netherlands. Managed to get back on track following the Albert Canal back to Herentalstraat where Google maps decided to send me into 6 inches of sand. Planned 90km route turned into 130km

This reminds me of a work conference near Frankfurt many years ago. A guy from the US office came in in the morning and remarked how he'd gone out for a walk the night before, gotten lost in the less than grid-like streets and "thought he was going to end up in Denmark". Lad from the UK office, not missing a beat, commented "Yeah, common enough mistake around these parts"

    Newry/Lough Neagh Canal.

There's a nice loop from Greenore, ferry ride, into Newry, canal toward L. Neagh, back via Carlingford.

My photo of Newry's famous sportsperson statue got lost, ye will have to go there yourselves to find out.
