    That’s interesting 🤔 I got 445 and I’m at high 300’s…

hi all I scored 464 and got placed 237 on the panel. I was candidate 778.
I put cork down as my first choice and mayo as my second choice is there an option to choose, someone told me that if you turn down your first choice you must be given your second no idea if it’s true or not. The scoring is fairly opaque and I feel like poor K wandering around ‘the castle’. Still glad to be panelled. Best of luck to all!

These are all questions to ask them, we really don't know. It could go either way.

Probably no harm to have a read over the competition document first before firing off emails. I do recall reading in it that a candidate could also be placed in a department outside of revenue.

    I actually passed - I'm shocked 😲

    From the information booklet. 👆🏻

Information on Potential Selection Methods and as @CapeClear said placement outside Revenue mentioned.

On the training, does everyone who gets placed get to do the ITI Tax Technician training do you know (if you don't already have it), and are the lectures during working hours? And is it done alongside the internal audit training or once that's completed? The booklet says training takes 3 years altogether, wondering about how it works practically. Thanks a million!

I'm unsure if everyone has to do the ITI Tax Technician course as the booklet says "may include an academic qualification". Could also be the diploma in Tax course too. When I did the course, I did the 4 modules over 18 months. The lectures were either on the weekend or evenings and never during working hours.

The "other government departments" bit is peculiar considering this is a recruitment drive specifically for tax/audit/compliance. I wonder if that's just a standard quote across all these competitions as the external PAS CO & EO booklets say something similar. It's usually a first offer of a diabolical area/unit (demanding shift/security work, at the ports etc.) so you can turn them down but still remain on the panel for Revenue.

I have surprised myself and actually passed! Almost afraid to say it out loud in case it’s a mistake. Does anyone know from experience or previous panels how soon they will start offering positions? First time on a panel so completely knew to this.

I’m in the 90s on the so I know I am a good bit away but I just meant in general, like once the panel is formed do they start offering positions quite fast or would it still be a few weeks before the person who got number 1 on the panel would hear anything..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭DM26

How many people do we think applied nationwide? Would we be talking around 2,000? If so, I'm pretty much out with my panel placing, too far down from everyone else here.

Has anyone gotten a reply regarding their place on the panel in chosen county? Just wondering if it's worth emailing them

Did anyone hear word back from any emails sent to the panel email address?

emailed friday , nothing back yet

Same, emailed on Friday. I'm 39 on the panel, but only put county Wexford for location. Hard to know what way it will work out.

It may be a case of more information to follow shortly as PAS sometimes do with their competitions after issuing initial results.

Might be worth an email to them. Would they be required to provide it for 'transparency'? Maybe not, there's no harm asking them either way.

I emailed on Friday as soon as results were issued and I'm still awaiting a response. I essentially asked for my position in the queue for both locations I chose. I'll give a rough estimate when I receive a response.

One of my colleagues who also placed asked about the total size of the panel and they replied pretty quickly to say they can’t disclose this. We did both ask to get our positions in the OOM for our county, and now I guess we just sit back for a couple of weeks while we wait for them to do up the location-specific OOMs

I got this response when I asked for my place on the county specific panel, so just FYI that it's a different email address.

Apologies, didn't see this mentioned on the results email!

Same, got that yesterday morning. So I emailed the address they provided. No response as of yet but I presume that mailbox in particular is rather busy responding to people at the moment!😬😄

Hi All does anyone know if i can change the location preference or remove one location preference on my application after passing interview please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭mopsy06

You can't change your location preferences after the closing date of the competition but if offered a place in a location you don't want, you can remain on the other location preference.

I came 94th on 2021 panel, received interview results on 14/10/21 and received a job offer on 1/11/2021!

I ended up moving departments instead but I’m hoping to get back now 🤞 currently 17th on this panel

Was the 2021 panel, the revenue tac one? Or a general EO panel?
