Still haven't heard anything from them after my last e mail which was yesterday, Was giving them upto end of business today. So next step is call in over the weekend ask politely for my car back and a full refund and that i be back on Monday to collect the car.

In the mean time i was on to DCC about the logbook for my E tron and they told me its getting processed today, I enquired about the A6 and they told me that its registered in my name and that the logbook be sent out next week.

The car was first registered in Ireland so its not a UK import.

they’re hoping you’ll just give up and keep it I’d say at this stage.

On the other hand it is also a fab car that suits the OP's lifestyle down to the ground, and bought at a very good price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,218 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

Not so sure it was a very good price given it's the smaller battery, it was a very good price for the larger battery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,327 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

realistically, if they take it back and resell with one owner, what are they likely to fetch for it? OP purchase price less this figure is the compensation which should be pushed for. Somebody senior in house would have done the math.

Entering the registration number on motorcheck.ie would have told you if it was a UK import or not by the way, no need to wait for the VLC.

I agree. Nothing special for the small battery.
The follow up after the error seems very shoddy also..

Quick update was out with them yesterday, And they 110% do not wanna take back the car, I also reiterated the fact that the two sales lads should not be in trouble over the brochure. And that the car was advertised on there used car booklet as being the performance line(100kwh).

The head honjo wasn't present yesterday so they will talk to them Monday AM, And get back to me then I am hoping we can come to some sort of resolution.

He did run a few things by me again it would need approval up the chain of command, I have to say the car apart from the battery size is lovely to drive.

One thing that struck me they have a SB&Avant in stock yet they have manual seats,Not electric I mean for that price you would expect electric seats on cars like that. Even my first A4 had electric seats.

You are being WAY too nice to them. Their fault - their problem. I'd be into a solicitor in the morning TBH as it looks like they're just jerking you around. Don't forget to bill them for all the time you've had to spend on THEIR **** up too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,842 ✭✭✭donkey balls

Asked my freind about going the legal route solicitors letter etc, She would type out a letter for me no problem ( cost of a bottle of beer mates rates)

She did advise me that it can be a long protracted thing to do, Something that I wouldn't really be keen on but I will look at all avenues when they contact me tomorrow.

you’re down minimum 10k on this car by virtue of it having the small battery.

You’re being very easy going about it I think and the longer it goes on the easier it is for them to do nothing.

I am sure it’s a lovely car but that’s beside the point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,842 ✭✭✭donkey balls

They have untill tomorrow to sort out the issue to something that i will accept , I told them the options and was very clear about it. So lets see what they come up with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,327 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

I reckon they'll offer you 5k to go away. Push for 10. They obviously do not want it back. Shake on middle ground for 7.5.

That'd be an OK result. Best of luck irrespective of what road you go down 👍

    10K for what exactly?

Hand the car back, take the fat E-tron back, and go shopping with a new marque.

Is this the world we're in now where everything has to be spun to one's advantage and we go around with our hand out looking for something? That's called having a brass neck.

Donkey_Balls has been slightly inconvenienced here. If he wishes to stay with Audi and acquire the correct car, or another vehicle from their range, a complimentary service plan would be appropriate.

    10K effing though? Jesus wept.

I have all ready told them that I'm happy to hand back the keys and get a full refund and my car back, Walk away no hard feelings etc miscommunication along the way regarding the advert.

But they are trying their best not to do the above, So IMO the ball is in their court so let them come up with a solution that would satisfy both parties.

Audi approved used car means you can hand back within 30 days even if they didn’t misell you the wrong car. Just leave it back to them and move on.

Have you physically been in yet @donkey balls?

Wondering if the sales rep involved is still there? Thinking a sales manager would have short shrift with a mistake that's gonna cost the operation a chunk through depreciation like this. Nobody's fault as you say, but franchise management may not see it quite the same way unfortunately.

Still think it's hard to refuse to engage with someone if you rock up and insert yourself physically.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,889 ✭✭✭carsfan2

I agree donkey balls should return the car and get how old one back but I do think he has been more then a little inconvenienced here.
he was sold a different car to what it was presented as, and a much cheaper car at that.
he agreed a price based on it being the more powerful bigger battery version which it isn’t.

If they don’t want to take it back and he is willing to keep it, he is entitled to financial recompense in my view. 10k is ball park to what he is out on this deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,842 ✭✭✭donkey balls

Yep I paid them a visit over the weekend and the sales rep is still there, Any other form of communication is via E mail so it creates a paper trail if things go south.

They told me they be in contact today so will see what they come up with, Yesterday was looking at the invoice and the model is A6 E Tron Perf S line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,327 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

You say slightly inconvenienced. Would you not agree that there would be an approximate difference of at least €10k between what he was led to believe he had purchased vs what he actually received ? If so, then slightly doesn't even come close.

Nobody's fault you say ? Of course it was somebody's fault. It's a screwup on the dealership side, plain and simple and it is up to them to rectify the situation.

Not quite correct, the buyer paid the correct figure for the small battery vehicle, he isn't out any money, let alone 10K. He has current use of a car until he hands it back, so he's not car-less. Yes there is some hassle in the back & forth with the dealer, for which he should receive an appropriate entitlement.

if he wants a big battery version of the car he has to find the additional funds to bridge the gap between the price he paid and the higher price of the more expensive vehicle (assuming similar spec). Something to sweeten it would be appropriate, but a cash payment? Nope. We are not that country (or are we?).

"Nobody's fault" as donkey balls himself remarked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,969 ✭✭✭User1998

You seem to think that they are somehow out of pocket here to the value of €10,000. They didn’t overpay for the car they got. They paid market value for the car they received, thinking they were getting a larger battery version for a great price. They aren’t entitled to €10,000. They are entitled to give the car back in exchange for a full refund. Expecting the dealer to just hand over €10,000 is absolutely ridiculous

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Ir3

How on earth do you make out that this is nobody's fault? It is a product that was advertised by someone as something that it is not! 100% someone is at fault. The moment I spotted this error the car would have been back on their forecourt and i wouldn't have left without my old car or the value of that if it had been sold on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,993 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Once again, I'm not making that out, the person affected by this has declined to attribute blame to anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,842 ✭✭✭donkey balls

I bought the car only for the bigger battery nothing else not interested in panoramic sunroof etc. The invoice is in black a white A6 E tron perf S line. If the dealer doesn't want to take the car back and refund me and give me my car back.

Well the other options are clear legal/ASA now no company likes their name splattered over the media.

I have IMO gave them ample time to resolve the issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,969 ✭✭✭User1998

You’ve given them ample time but you don’t seem to have done much other than send a few emails. Other posters have pointed out that you are entitled to return the car for any reason within 30 days being a used approved car. So why haven’t you returned it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭Golfer_2000

I hope you get it all sorted Donkey it's a mad situation. Is this your car they have up for sale for 40k?

    Etron 55 Sline
