Sending a mobile to Ireland from the UK

Hi all, apologies if this is not exactly the right place for this. If I buy a smartphone in the UK and try to send it to somebody in Ireland (amazon would not ship directly to Ireland), will there be any issue in terms of non-delivery (TARIC or other issues) or will it be liable for customs? Even though it's a gift? Thanks…

You may have to send it by courier, the post office generally don't accept items with batteries

I thought you were on about a mobile home lol when I seen the post title. Why not just buy the mobile phone and bring it over yourself or better yet buy it in Ireland and get them to deliver it to the person you want to get it.
