The Prince of Darkness is no more.

The farewell gig in Birmingham all the more poignant now. He must have known.

Farewell you crazy old bastard. You taught us we are here for a good time, not a long time.

Sad to hear, and I think it's even sadder that a huge % of people will probably only really remember him from 'The Osbournes' in the 2000s, and as somewhat of a background character, and not as a musician.

Worth exploring some of the music and performance that made him famous in the first place, and not the reality TV dross 'franchise' that was piled on decades later.

They literally do. I was talking to people earlier who had absolutely no idea he was even in a band and just saw him as a reality tv character.

    Deeply saddened by this.

Had the fortune of seeing him at Wembley in 1991.

Crazy to think he headlined the biggest show of metal bands only a week ago or whatever.

I'm not a big metal head but to get that line up together and sell out villa Park (and a huge amount of live streams) shows the esteem in which he was held.

    RIP Ozzie

His last act was bringing together all the greats of metal for one last party while raising millions for charity.Rip Ozzy.

He went out with a real bang then.

Always a fan of his, a shame I never saw him at Ozzfest back in the day.

    RIP.

The first few Sabbath albums are music at it's peak, it seems like this news has been coming for a while, Sabotage is up there with my all time favourite albums, demented stuff, so glad I got to see him in 2017, still have my ticket for the fabled 2019 gig.

    RIP 😢

RIP Ozzy - Saw him for the first time in McGonagles in 1991.

    An absolute legend.

She Will and she doesn't look well herself as she's taking ozempic which she doesn't need , I'd say he's left her millions if not billions

Ah yes , Ozzy never did anything to hurt his health.

Ozzy was in a real stupor after being kicked out of Sabbath, he probably would have drink/drugged himself to death without Sharon's intervention, wouldn't have got those first few brilliant solo albums, but then Randy Rhodes would probably still be alive.

Probably best to say no more other than that is a shockingly pig-ignorant comment.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I was listening to some early Black Sabbath albums recently and was surprised how soft they were. I appreciate that they influenced many of the modern bands I listen to for example Slipknot but I wouldn't say I enjoy much of their music. I think the main thing I don't like about that older style of metal is the lack of harsh vocals/growls.

    Mozart and Ozzy.

RIP Ozzy what a legend. Without him and Sabbath we wouldn't have this thread.
Saw him in 91 in McGonagles.

    Can’t stand her.

An absolute scourge on Ozzy and the metal scene for decades.

    But this is about Ozzy.

Crazy Train got a full volume play at 6 am this morning as a salute to Him - woke up all the family and probably some of the next door crew but it was worth it

    Master of the Universe

Its what makes older heavy metal much better to my ear, I can find a lot of the modern growling etc a bit edgelord-ish.

Saying that, Slipknot sure hits me in the nostalgia feels.

She's the only reason he made it into his 70s, he's another one that should have died 30/40 years ago at the rate he was going with drink and drugs. Say what you want about Sharon but she was ultimately good for Ozzy.
