Incredible arrogance and shameless fascism on display. Visibly angry white men afraid that they will be treated the way they treat non whites

I’m with my inlaws in Delaware on a family trip at the moment. We passed a house with a flag up, saying “Trump 2024. F*ck Your Feelings”.

Did not know much about him but I watched the first 40 minutes of that interview and I like what I see. He talks very well, is articulate and displays a level of empathy that is missing in the world.

To be fair, we've heard very little directly from Hunter Biden and certainly nothing close to that level of length and candour. He comes across as a genuine person in that interview. It'll be interesting to see the reactions from some of the people he had a go at in it.

But I still don't agree with what he says about his dad's decline later in the interview. Even if he was just having an off day (or two, or three), a U.S. president has to be able to do their job even when they're in bad form. I do agree, however, that Joe Biden has a good heart and was trying to do right by his country, unlike the current incumbent who used an obvious crypto scam to line his own pockets.

In the first 10 seconds he mentions alcohol is the most dangerous drug, and that reminded me of a previous career where I had to be in court a lot and I lost track of the number of times the judge said the same thing due to the various road traffic, assault, property damage, and domestic violence cases cased by it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,988 ✭✭✭✭briany

It's a truism to talk about the dangers of alcohol, but it's so ingrained in western culture that it cannot be effectively prohibited.

Its a factor in the assignment of judges to handle cases that its a random selection process in most courts.

According to The Independent the federal judge assigned to hear the Trump V WSJ case is Judge Darrin P Gayles, a former federal prosecutor, who was appointed to the bench by Obama and confirmed by the Senate in a 98-0 vote. He also became the first openly gay black man to serve on the federal bench.

The Independent report said Judge Gayles’s appointment to the case, which is by random drawing, followed Trump's Truth Social post of an AI-generated video showing Obama being arrested inside the Oval Office as Trump smiles and laughs next to him.

If there is so much as a smidgeon of racial profiling being done by Trump's administration, this may cause some to break over in a hasty rush to please him, even when it may not be something he wants or ordered.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday that the Justice Department has released documents related to the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.

WSJ barred from upcoming Trump trip to Europe

    Censorship. Another step towards fascism

I hope the rest of the media boycott it

They won’t - those invited are too far up his ass

Will there not be a press conference with European journalists?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,641 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

It's a foreign trip away from the White House, surely they can't pick and choose as they do normally?
What's to stop the EU/French/Brits/etc. just giving WSJ accreditation and allowing them in? Also surely The Guardian/Die Welt/Le Monde etc. will be there, and won't be softballing him?

Would be nice to see the EU show examples of free speech that Vance was advocating so heavily for…

Apparently a sh1tload of docs surrounding MLK were released, against his family's wishes too.

Incredible what can be released, when they want it to be

They are just scatter gunning with everything they can think of that the "base" had shown interest in over the last decade in the hope that it will draw attention away from Epstein.

So far, none of it has worked.

Which is great in some ways as his discomfort is lovely to see.

However, the downside is that he will get more and more outrageous in his attempts at distraction so the risk that he does something really really stupid to try and shift the news cycle begins to increase exponentially.

The economy is less than it should be- prices rising in supermarkets (I think it’s around 2.7% on last year) and of course certain imports now getting more expensive with tariffs - all the distractions won’t turn voter heads away from that thankfully

I got through about 25 seconds of that video before my blood began boiling and I had to switch it off.

I got the impression that most of those people were willing to parrot buzz words but really could not articulate what they thought they were trying to say. It doesn't make them any less dangerous as other people will accept these word-salad arguments as wisdom, but most of them had no real idea of what they were talking about, and managed to make themselves look shallow and pretty stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 24,350 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

You should watch through at least 1 of the people debating against him. As one of the most liked comments under the video says, "This is why they are going after the Dept of Education". An ignorant populace is absolutely ripe for manipulation.

Bear in mind also that these are the people who were outraged in 2020/21 at being accused of being fascist, now they're wearing it as a badge of honour. Greg Gutfield said on FoxNews that they need to learn from black people and reclaim the word Nazi by saying things to each other like "What's up my Nazi" to normalize it. He would claim to have been speaking sarcastically but I don't think any close watchers would think that that is the case, these are the people he was talking to. If you lessen the intensity of words like Nazi and Fascist then you can provide people with the ability to wave off accusations of being so ideologically motivated. And here's the kicker, when you're doing this, you can actually promote fascist behaviour because you have undermined a key way people are held to account for that, being identified as such.

But we have to watch it, and get angry about it, because these people exist and they're in the US, and the UK, and Ireland, and France and everywhere else and they think that they are the ones whose time is coming. The only thing that I think we know for sure now, or at least with a lot more certainty, is how the Nazis convinced so many in Germany to support their cause. Not everyone who did was truly evil, at first, but they thought that they were finally being heard. These are the people that Trump spoke to and will continue speaking to (health permitting (which I've fingers crossed for if you know what I mean)) and who Nigel Farage most definitely is speaking to in a very forceful way. This is why I don't give people who I think tolerate these views an inch of leeway in debates on here. The justification of hate facilitates only more hate and we've already seen too much how quickly that can spread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭soverybored1878

    Very well said.

It's not only the hate spewing out of these people, it's just the pig ignorance of them. 'I am a Native American' - that made me sick.

    1000013915.jpg

And why is Trump attacking him?

    1000013914.jpg

Personally, I think there is nothing new in the Epstein files.

Maybe there is, and the Dems didn't want it released before now because there's stuff in there pertaining to them, and now they are cornered and have to push for the release.

Either way, what is most noteworthy, is if you look at Trump's behaviour, does it appear to you that there's nothing there concerning him, or does it look like he's absolutely petrified that they will be released?

Doesnt need to be him personally, can just as easily be someone else pulling the strings and putting pressure on him, possibly even a foreign intelligence agency who knows.

I doubt he's actually in anything but the flight logs or whatever, we have Virginia Roberts Giuffre testimony that he wasnt really involved. But yea, there is definitely a reason he doesnt want them released now.

I agree with you , I don't think there is anything directly incriminating for Trump in the information.

But, he will be mentioned many many times over a very long period of time and will have been "adjacent" to various unsavoury incidents which will open him up to all kinds of scrutiny , not least of which will be "You had to have known what he was up to , why didn't you do something to stop him??" .

And to the MAGAs for whom "draining the swamp" and "saving the children from the Pedo Elite" is a core belief , that could be terminal..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,561 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

That's a weird way to hold any kind of debate. It's just endless verbals and mantras with nothing really getting across. What's revealing, though, is the sheer level of ignorance on display, coupled with the masks eventually falling from the faces that Medhi is talking to. It's notable that the 20, so called, "conservatives" are all quite young. I don't know whether that was by design or whether that happened organically.

The value, I suppose, of the whole exercise is in showing the warped mindset of some Americans, with some truly scary levels of depth of depravity being exhibited. Someone even identified as a fascist.

    Incredible.

Even seeing more coming to the surface about model competitions Trump was a judge for (not just Miss Teen USA, the ones where he owned the competition and used that as an excuse to go backstage as the teen girls were changing).

    The Guardian article mentioned:

Well, Trump did tell Howard Stern that he did have an age limit of 12, so these 14 year olds are "getting on" in his view…
