Me I used to watch C4 news and Virgin One news but gave them both up. Both gone to the dogs. Tabloid news if you ask me. I stopped watching Sky News years ago. I only watch the news on RTE and the BBC now. All the rest are rubbish.

Used to watch ITN News @ Ten back in the day (for world news) + RTE news for a local take on things, then I migrated to Sky News always falling back on the BBC if I needed clarification on a story, however …..

In the last couple of years I've completely gone off Sky "sensationalist" News + I don't trust BBC News anymore. I think ITN news has gone? and RTE just seems flat and relies upon other news outlets for it's info.

The upshot of all this is that I now watch a little CNN + Fox News, (two opposing US news channels), GB News, a little bit of Sky, Talk TV News, and RTE News. So basically I get my news from multiple sources, because they all give different interpretations of the news, and I don't trust any one of them in isolation.

    VM1 and Sky mostly.

RTE are nothing but a government mouthpiece so have no interest in their so called news.

With the amount of threads you open OP you really should consider paying a subscription of €1.50 a week for us to have to endure them.

RTÉ to find out what we're supposed to think is happening, and Gript to find out what's going on.

Generally RTÉ for the real news and then Gript or Waterford Whispers for the satirical stuff.

You say that about RTE but the news on VM1 us hardly news. They are a disgrace. They treat it like it's entertainment ffs with music in the background. I even e-mailed and instsgramed them about this to no avail. That was the final straw for me with them. If I am watching people being bombed or hearing of people being shot while just trying to get food to survive last thing I want is some music on in the background. Its hirrifying and disgusting. There are people dieing in these countries and VM 1 think it is entertaiment ffs. These people are living trying to survive in hell and VM1 think its entertainment. It turns my shomach. No I am done with VM1. Its a cheap tabloid T.V station.

I would mainly watch RTE News.

I've noticed that the BBC news has changed over the last few years.

Instead of leading with a straight up fact based set of headlines they tend to lead with a type of "special report" usually related to something that is in the headlines.

I don't particularly like that, I think it adds a certain spin that is unnecessary.

I dont know this is either something that crept up on us over the last 15, 20 years or maybe its always been there and I just didnt notice as a young person.

Bit I find journalism is seldom just reporting something that happened, fact based. There is a message with it now these days. Journalists dont seem to report anymore but seem quite often to be on an 'education' mission supporting a particular stance or narrative.

If you don't follow RTÉ etc. you'll be uninformed, if you do, you'll be misinformed. Take your pick. They're all pretty shite.

I'd watch Virgin Media news. Can't say I get what you're saying. Is it during the headlines you're on about?

Its normally the quick news bits they would do before a break that would have the background music.

Yes there is. It news not entertainment they are presenting. They treat it like its an entertainment program. It's just wrong.
