CPU running at or above 100 degree when gaming, does thermal paste need replacing?

OMEN by HP Laptop 16-c0500na (4S1C6EA)

I was getting auto shut downs so had the fans cleaned and bought a mesh stand to facilitate airflow.

Auto shut downs have eased but the temperature still runs close to or slightly above 100 degrees, danger temperature.

Perhaps the thermal paste needs changing?

I would be sending it away for that (Curry's tech insurance), cause apparently the paste is on the other side of the motherboard to the fans.

Would changing the paste help keep the CPU cooler?

    It should work.

Anytime the temps on my Lenovo w530 were running hot when it wasn't doing much (I don't game), if I cleaned the fans/vents and replaced the thermal paste, the temps reduced pretty dramatically.

Something to do with the setup of the motherboard, the in-store tech seemed to think replacing the thermal paste would be challenging.

But I guess if it's buy Curry's tech insurance, they should be able to handle it?

I just had a quick look at this video:

That isn't a very challenging task for a technician with even basic skills. I've a Dell XPS 15 that is more of a pain than that to do the thermal paste on.
