I didnt realise there was a separate IG page for Global Roots. Yep they are still there too.

The loop ones are great at gigs, as they still allow you hear the person beside you.

I dont find them great as "total noise blockers" for trying to catch some sleep if the campsite is lively.

For that, these are a great job

Cant edit last post...meant to link these

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭rino87

The link seems to be breaking boards!!

Im on about the Alvis earplugs from Decathlon...their intended use is as ear protection at shooting competitions, so they can block out the morning sesh in your neighbours tent quite well 🙂

I do use different Loops for different purposes - for example - I use Quiet 2 for sleeping and Experience 2 for gigs (the Experience have a hard outer that is uncomfortable to lie on anyways).

That plus the right size ear tip is important too.

I've three pairs of loops, two in my bag at all times.

Great stuff for gigs. Bit weird sometimes as it blocks out the crowd noise so sometimes makes it sound like the crowd aren't into the gig ha. Handy for noisy public transport and office as well just takes the edge off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭rino87

Yeah the experience ones are great...you can really feel the low end when wearing them too!

Just in case anyone is ordering camping stuff online from Decathlon, be aware that delivery comes from France, and takes about a week!! Id get on it fairly quick.

Ordered the loop ones. Hopefully find them comfortable now!

    Hi guys,

Question regarding transport, if arriving into Waterford city on Thursday morning, is there a shuttle service available to the site? I can only see a Friday service on the Express way site, any other suggestions? 🙏

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 82 ✭✭Magulok

No official shuttles Waterford to ATN on the Thursday stupidly… I'll be in the same boat trying to get to the festival on the Thursday from Waterford. trying not to stress about it yet lol.. hopefully something pops up..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Eirefest05

Ok thanks for the heads up, it looks like there's a few of us in the same boat so 🙄Surely the demand is there for it to operate on the Thursday?

Wonder how much a party bus would cost to rent between a few 🤔

I wonder if the AVA stage will be in the same spot as last year? It was shite, packed and no one dancing. Left Ben UFO after about 10 minutes. Years previous when it was in the woods it was class. Some DJs I really want to see there this year, especially Blawan, but the whole lineup for it is quality.

I haven't been on boards in ages but the lineup this year is much better then the last couple of years IMO. Way more good local Irish bands lower down the bill (Search Results, Altered Hours, Affection to Rent, Adore etc.). Very excited for Gurriers and Maria Sommerville who released two my my favourite Irish albums since 2024. And I'm way more into the DJs, there was basically no Techno last year and now there's loads. Also some big slots for amazing Irish DJs which should be special (JWY at Arcadia will be insane). Can't wait!

From the planning application, it looks like AVA is in the same spot unfortunately.

Will be interesting to see how Arcadia gets on its new home. Certainly no early nights for the campers down that end of the field!

I thought it was just me, until I saw some comments on here. It was awful last year I thought. Way too bright and in the centre of a really busy area. Nothing but people passing in/out/across. Immersive me ho1e.

Too close to lovely days then to top it off. Disaster of a stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,392 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

Sound bleed to the lovely days stage was terrible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 137 ✭✭Ruanmcg

Yeah it sucked last year, all my friends agreed. There's nothing worse then an overly packed dancefloor with people coming and going, you just can't get in to it. Can't understand how a dance music festival promoter/organisation like AVA doesn't understand the fundamentals of what makes a dancefloor good or shite… If they haven't tweaked it significantly then whoever is running that is stealing a living.

Just realised the Ealu le Gra area is gone this year which is a shame, spent a lot of the late nights there last year as there was always space and a good crowd of people proper going for it, basically the opposite of the AVA stage last year.

Will echo what others have said above regarding the AVA stage, the overwhelming majority of anyone we camped with/beside last year was that stage was nothing but a nuisance and a complete drag on the Lovely Days stage.

A massive own goal, it felt completely shoehorned into an area it didn't belong.

A friend is desperately looking for a ticket and has been trying to get one on Ticketmaster resale but to no avail.

It now says on Ticketmaster there is now a "presale" for tickets Friday morning - bit strange, anyone know anything about this? They're hardly releasing extra tickets are they?

Totally agree about AVA, in theory it sounded like a great stage, I was excited to see it as AVA have such a great reputation, in reality however it just didn't work, the sound wasn't great, it was in the middle of a hugely busy throughway from main arena to lovely days, bandstand field etc, and then there's the awful smirnoff shite associated with it, it was in the perfect place previously but as the capacity of festival continues to grow I don't think it coould have stayed there long term, plus the rumour is the owner of curraghmore house didn't want late night music down near house, just not sure where else they could put this stage, as it stands they're already moving into campsite fields to expand and the flow of festival is suffering due to this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 137 ✭✭Ruanmcg

I was told by a friend who works in the festival world that there's an additional 10-15k this year and they're going to expand it by a similar amount next year again

There's hardly an extra 15,000 surely? Wasn't last years capacity under 20k?

To be fair this was the campsite last year

As far as I remember that whole bit on the left was the carpark, so could track with the extra campsite size the extra people
I know Capervan/Family and Boutique campsites have all changed sizes and places as well

According to 2024's planning application docs on Waterford County Councils website the capacity for 2024 was 27,000, and this year's application says "Ticket sales for the event are to be c.30000 tickets per day for 2025 (plus c.2000 staff, performers, artists) and c.35000 tickets per day for 2026 (plus c.2000 staff, performers, artists)."

Maybe he's wrong, hopefully he is, but he's normally fairly in the know with these things. Does seem like a lot consideign how fast it sold out this year as well
