A 17 year old girl was beaten in Russia because she wouldn't agree to a relationship with a man double her age. There's no report yet if she was one of the taken from Ukraine. But from the footage shown on internet news channels it wouldn't be surprising as she had no back up in the group. Reports are saying the man they wanted her to have a relationship with has criminal connections and the police don't want to get involved.

You can see the military fatigues are becoming clothes of choice out there.

Their ministers are proposing to lower the length of education for children/teenagers to 10 years as they say it will encourage young women to start having babies at a younger age.

Someone is going to have to explain basic biology to them. Even mother nature, notoriously cruel, won't allow the average ten year old become pregnant.

Might have to explain to some that you don't start education as soon as you are born...

This is what happens when the orange guy says nothing will happen for at least 50 days - it just enables terrorism.

It’s the old fundamentast cook-book of the Old World which usually does it’s best to keep women uneducated. Lack of education usually leads to poor of critical thinking skills and thus the hope of such a system is a generation of young women who’ll accept partners regardless of their suitability (or abusive nature in many cases). Also less likely to practice safe-sex or family planning.

So you end up with a cohort of Russian women pregnant early in life, probably as part of a destructive relationship in many cases. So much for the legacy of the Soviet Union that at least pretended to care about equality of the sexes. Are our Russia-fans proud of this particular lean by the Russian State…or are they of a similar Old World mindset when it comes to the rights and wellbeing of women?

The sad irony of their efforts here is that they are trying to demolish the rights of their women for no real benefit. Russia’s demographics are now well beyond the point of repair. The legacy of losing so many men in WWII combined with emegration and now their block-headed loss of over 1 million more in Ukraine has sealed it for them. Even if they stole every child in Ukraine…they cannot recover. They would have to start accepting immigrants to have any hope of recovering their birthrate, and hoodwinking MAGA nitwits to be farmers in Russian isn’t exactly going to do the job.

Russia would need to start being less racist and less sh*t in general in order to attract enough people to keep them going into the future. Right now, I don’t see that happening.

It's great that something has changed his mind, for the moment, about Ukraine.

But the idea that he "goes home" to Melania and they're all "how was your day dear" " well I'm very worried about Ukraine" is utterly laughable. She lives in New York, not at the Whitehouse, for a start.

For the life of me I don't get the 50 days notice thing ,I hope Trump hasn't given false hope to many as don't be surprised if there is another change of direction in another few days.

I did not see anything about what the US expects Russia to do over this 50 days. If it is to stop the war by then or to stop the killing or to stop targeting civilians civilian structures then should Russia not be ‘instructed by Trump to start IMMEDIATELY showing very strong and CLEAR signs that it has started to progressively pull back on killing civilians, stop attacking civilian structures, etc, etc, etc, and over that 50 day timeline. Is the whole process going to start aka Istanbul mark Two . Wonder who the mediator will be . The Arus cannot be because of its ‘performance to date. Should Russia not agree to The US being a mediator because it is now supplying arms to Ukr.
Funnily enough, it might take the 50 days for all sides to agree :-

    (1) the talks location

    (2) the agenda

    (3) how the talks will proceed

    (4) are the mediator/chair

VZ should have no problem with that. Moscow does ‘ not include’ St Petersburg , other cities, all of its infrastructure outside of Moscow. Russia is a big place and with all of those factories , services, training camps , supply routes, oil refineries supporting the war - sure Ukr is spoiled for choice

Pointless when the two sides positions are so far away from each other. That is why everything will be decided on the battlefield and just carry on as is or hope for Russia's economy to collapse.

    I didn't flee, I was banned.

Peace and diplomacy are not disgusting to me. Things have progresed much as I predicted with the only surprises being the Ukrainian attack on Russia's nuclear bombers and Ukraine working with the Nazis in Israel.

There's been an enormous loss of life and all for nothing. At least Trump is talking, by reducing the chance of global nuclear war.

Ukraine working with the Nazis in Israel

OK, I think we can disregard anything you have to say on the matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭Polar101

Ending the war is very simple - your friends stop their invasion and stay within their own borders. But I guess that kind of peace is disgusting to vatniks like yourself.

Why is Putin refusing to talk tho as illustrated in bbc video report only a few posts up

Same Putin who started this war and killed a million of his men

People are calling you out because your fake concernik song is hypocritical to the extreme

Russians repelled and took back the famous encirclement in Sumy this morning

Peace and diplomacy are not disgusting to me.

How does Ukraine "falling on Russias sword" = peace and diplomacy? Is suicide a form of diplomacy to you?

Things have progressed much as I predicted with the only surprises being the Ukrainian attack on Russia's nuclear bombers and Ukraine working with the Nazis in Israel.

Are the Ukrainian/Israeli Nazis in the room with us right now?

There's been an enormous loss of life and all for nothing. At least Trump is talking, by reducing the chance of global nuclear war.

This is what I meant earlier when I said it must be very confusing for you guys and your silly simplistic worldview. Twice now I've asked you to explain why Russia gets a pass for rejecting peace.

Russia has once again(Trumps 50 days) rejected a ceasefire for the sake of peace negotiation. One which Ukraine and the current US administration have been advocating for. You've cowered from this fact twice now.

Meanwhile Trump bombs Irans nuclear sites and threatens their government at Israels behest after tearing up the previous agreement he had with the Iranian government. But he's somehow our best chance at avoiding Nuclear war? You guys are so lost and confused. It's embarrassing to watch.

A Russian veteran of the war in Ukraine. He was in prison first and went to Ukraine and returned. And has been robbing stores with a machete for now 20 times. He was arrested this time. He has had internal organs removed. His wife and sister are cooperating with the police.

The best "influence on Nato" would have been to keep supporting Ukraine in an honest way so that Russia was either defeated or realized it had no hope of breaking Western Democratic resolve or International Norms of behaviour.

That way we could have kept Nato as an insurance policy/defensive alliance without wasting our resources on military spending .

USA does not ,imo contribute more than other Nato members since it is the largest beneficiary of the arms industry.

Trump's pig ignorance and rabid following really have no redeeming features and I don't think this "poney up" argument holds water either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,532 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

The whole thing about NATO spending as a % of GDP is just a strange obsession that Trump and his supporters latched onto as way to drive divisions and perpetuate stupidity

A good chunk of US military budget is basically a welfare welfare for soldiers and veterans (and even that got cut)

It also completely misses the point of NATO, prevent Soviet Union (and then Russia) from expanding its empire into Europe, if you listen to Trump you would think the purpose of NATO is to provide welfare to US arms manufacturers

Many European NATO members have spent year on year a massive chunk of their GDP to help Ukrainians stop Russia, doing more to help themselves than spending on US gear which can be remotely disabled by the Kremlins man in White House

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 524 ✭✭✭SoapMcTavish

Nope. More likely that everything will be decided inside Russia by a political collapse, or revolution, or coup. Usual Russian stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,532 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

    On related note

France and Italy won’t be spending money on US weapons

Instead they will support and purchase from own manufacturers to help Ukraine and are looking into offering help with logistics etc

Czechia doing similar but with their artillery effort which now acquired millions of shells for Ukrainians

Europe learns slowly. The US really is in a pickle the next time it enters a war that it wants its allies to row in behind.

And I'll keep saying it until material differences are actually seen on the ground. Trumps big announcement this week was sheer panto and an attempt at deflection. Threatening tariffs again, where he will back away from actually imposing them as the deadline approaches as has been his form.

This is a extreme of ignorance. You've obviously not travelled much, as if you've visited any of the Baltic states, and Most eastern European countries have children younger, in fact those countries are all pretty similar to to Russia in regards to first time mothers ages. You also should know, the average age for first time mothers in the US is younger than any of these countries.

In fact, Estonia and Latvia have incentives in place now to have families at younger ages have bigger families.
