those of us who are coming off PCP soon will be lucky if they honour the GFMV at this stage!

Assume you'll be handing it back, most of them will hardly be worth the gmfv with the discounts the last while? The business edition of the 4 has ruined resale on those too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭eastie17

yes, might even hand it back before the end under the half rule, great car but it was a really bad time to be an early adopter. And ironically I only went pcp to try to protect myself financially, i probably did a little on paper but have no equity now for wherever i go next. It was going to be a 4 but don’t want to get burned twice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,140 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

Well at least it served it's purpose in that sense, deposit is gone but your protected on the downside v owning it yourself! I think the 4 is lovely but I'd be wary....

Being guaranteed a deposit through some form of equity was always a bit of a fallacy, especially when buyers opt for the lowest monthly charges possible.

Goes without saying, but if you opt for the lowest possible monthly, you’re paying €zero towards the deposit on the next one.

I’m tempted to call and ask, it’s been like that for a few days.

If it’s really €38k, that’s massive value in terms of cost/km of range.

I don’t think you got caught out as an early adaptor, EV wise. Early adapter to Polestar maybe.

You got caught out by polestars initial pricing which was ludicrous.

Then into the period of forced price drops due to Tesla dropping the Model 3 caught a lot of people out on what was supposed to be the higher premium cars.

The good thing is that they are now excellent second hand purchases.

there’s a glut of 2021/22 second hand EVs that are being priced against their initial high new price, so value can be hard to find. Those cars need time to work through the system, or else a reality check for list price

    NI.
these were going for €20k registered at one stage. I posted one or 2 in this thread.

€40,000 now with 6,000km on the clock. Still very good value in my opinion.

Did anyone have any experience with the change of ownership in the Polestar services?
I recently purchased a Polestar 2 from a non-Volvo/Polestar dealership and I'm not seen as the owner of the car when I login on my Polestar ID.
I was told that I can go to any Volvo dealership with the certificate of registration but I'm trying to avoid driving 1 hour for something that can be done online.

On a second question: What are the Polestar contact details? The website only lists the Polestar Dublin sales office which is different from Polestar Ireland and their number is not in service anymore.

I got in touch with these

    CustSupp@polestar.com

Had to send on a copy of my registration document and had it transferred in about 5 days

Thanks! I got a reply today from this email address as I used the online form and they transferred the ownership.

I see the "Connected services plus" is expiring in March. Does anyone know how much does it cost to extend it? I can't see any options to subscribe or purchase.

AFAIK and based on others who were due to expire, should have expired, it just continues on. General feeling is that they haven't figured out how to charge for it and until they do it will continue.

Has anyone tried to get the retractable towbar installed? Any idea of prices?

Try malcolms towbars they're great to deal with. Greenogue Dublin

Since the change in dealership, there have been some changes. Spirit Volvo serviced my car and later replaced a couple of faulty parking sensors under warranty.

Also, a few weeks ago I hit a rock on the side of a country road and blew out both nearside tyres. They were both write offs unfortunately - only 10k on them. So I hit the 'Connect' button on the ceiling and after some faffing a tow truck came and dropped the car back to my house.

The roadside assistance is managed by Allianz and they had to give permission for the lift back to my house as it's usually required that the car goes to a service centre or tyre depot. But since the tyres weren't in stock anywhere, they agreed.

One thing I learned is that you can't rotate the wheels, they're 1" wider at the back. So I had to remove the two nearside wheels a couple of days later, bring them to the tyre depot for the new tyres to be fitted, bring them home again and put them on the car and then drive back to the tyre depot for the front right to be swapped with the rear left so that there were matching tyres on each axle (the replacements were a different make from the originals).

Thanks for the info. I called them and they told me they don't have an after market towbar for Polestar 2.
I got quotes for the retractable towbar from Finlay (€1700), Spirit (€1500), and Agnew Belfast (€1620).

That price from Spirit is for the genuine towbar afaik. Used to be available to buy in the 'shop' but for some reason that section isn't there any more.

All of the quotes are for the genunie part as they are Polestar service centers.
I've seen online some third party towbars for Polestar 2 but not much cheaper than this and not retractable only detachable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,414 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Well that price from Spirit was the price in the Polestar 'shop' before it closed down. That's why I assumed it was the genuine one. The others are a bit spicy.

So my P2 has given me an early Christmas Present 🙄

Full on Christmas feel flashing lights all over the dash, ambient lighting almost like a 70's disco.
Had popped to a shop during lunch in Friday, came back out was greeted with this:

After waiting for recovery service for 3hrs, the mechanic, as expected says 12v problem. Gave the 12v a boost and off I went. Took the car for an hour spin to make sure it charged the 12v, back into the car this afternoon just to check, and Christmas is back. So off to Polestar she'll go on Monday. Hopefully with a loaner as they figure it out. Car is only 2 1/2 years old.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

How long are people getting out of tyres? I'm at 24k now and I'll need to put new front tyres on in the next couple of weeks

I got 29k km out of mine on a dual motor, replaced all 4 as they were all getting close to the markers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,507 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

    That's not great is it?

Mind you with many tyres now starting at 6mm vs 8mm in the past it may be inevitable I suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 ociarba

I'm surprised tbh. I just thought I'd get a bit more.
