It's America now. Surely it's the Superior Performing Player Award.

Best team in the world and no debate. Love the saltiness of other English clubs. They have a point, obviously but that makes it more fun

Well that was nice, and in the end really easy.

I think that the most complete performance I've ever seen from a Chelsea team. Dominated for the entire match against what is considered the best team in the world . Every player had a part in the performance and Pedro and Delap look to be great additions to the squad.

How big of a loss will Colwill be?
Badiashile seems to be back, no idea on Fofana and is Hato going to be thrown into the deep end soon?

Assume Disasi and Gilchrist are out the door and are not options.

Well Lads. Thoughts on the impending new season?

I'm very confident of improving on last season (I wasn't expecting to finish as high as 4th though)

Starting the new season with the same manager as we started last season seems a bit novel of us over recent years. I wonder if it will catch on?😉

I can see us having a really fast start as we don't leave Greater London for the first 4 games.

My Prediction. Heart says 1st. Head says same top 4 as last year, but much closer to each other and could be in any order.

II'm Feeling surprisingly positive. The additions of Delap, J Pedro, estavao, Santos and gittens are all upgrades imo.

Also I thing the better quality in attack will benefit cole palmer as the opposition will have other players to worry about. I'd say we'll be better equipped to breakdown teams defending deep.

Another factor is the confidence, positivity and momentum from end of last season - securing top 4 by beating forest away and winning some silverware. Particularly the manner in which we beat PSG in the club world cup final.

I won't go as far as saying a league title but I think 80+ points is possible.

I think our goalkeeper and centre back weaknesses will hold us back from a proper title challenge. Even if Colwill wasnt injured for the season I’d say the same, any two of our current bunch I don’t see as being title quality. We may mount one but I don’t see it lasting. Hope I’m proven wrong

I’d take an improved overall season that has a comfortable 4th place along with seeing at least the QF of the Champions League, which of course will also have an effect on the team since we can’t rotate like last year

Too many changes in the team so think top 4 again but we're a bit off winning it. I could see us having a strong CL run and even go on to win it.

100% this. We'll never win a league with our keeper and defence. We did mount a challenge until Christmas ish last year, so hanging on for a few more months before finishing 3rd would be nice

Fully agree on the goalkeeper and Centre back comments. Would love if Donnaruma was a possibility but I assume his wage demands would be far too high.

That is definitely one thing I like about the current ownership. They don't hand out silly wages.

I dont understand how a better keeper hasn't been top priority. We've let Petrovic and even Kepa go.

But other than that.. I think this has been one of our best transfer windows over the past few seasons!

If there's a few shown the door in the meantime, better again!

I wonder if Jorgensen is seen as a potential serious option? He's still only 23, but did well in the Conference League last season. Could see Maresca starting with Sanchez, but maybe giving Jorgensen a shot if Sanchez has a rough patch.

Yeah that's probably what will happen.

For me also can't see a real challenge for the title, would expect a comfortable top 4 maybe finish 3rd behind Liverpool and I suspect City will be back.

Eh Sanchez punched Guehi in the head there no?

Any talk of a title challenge has taken quiet the reality check after that shite!!!

Looked electric all pre-season but as soon as the actual season starts it's the same old problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,885 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Im not sure how we looked lethargic today but not during the two pre season games, I know competitive is different but it doesnt add up

Short few days now until West Ham away, between Potter and their own poor opening day performance it may not be straight forward

Palace are an excellent side so not too annoyed at the result. Performance was slightly worrying in the sense that it seems they won't be able to score against well organised teams again this season.

Would love to see Palmer out on the right to try get him in the game more. Estevao is young but seems to have the personality to handle the pressure and take responsibility to make things happen so would like to see him as a starter.

My biggest worry is Enzo Fernandez. I'm not sure he suits the premier league and can't see what his exact function is in the team. It would be great to see Santos get a run ahead of him but I can't see that happening as Enzo seems to be untouchable like Caicedo or Palmer.

Finally they showed some backbone and fought for a result. It's been a while but that's a bloody good time to do it!

That was beautiful. Caicedo was unreal. And the goal. Fantastic!
