    subscribed, thanks.

Should I notice anything different? I’m not sure how or if it knows which user account I’ve used to subscribe?

edit: my payment email didn’t match my boards account email. Mike sorted me out, but try to make them match if signing up!

QQ Mike, but not a big issue/rush. As eadrom says above, should I have more options under my Profile settings? EG: Change picture is disabled.

    Cheers.

    Hi all,

A massive thank for everything posted here so far.

A lot of you have already jumped and joined up the Subscription service. Thank you to everyone who has joined so far.

I wanted to point out one thing that may cause disruption for some. Please use the email associated with your Boards.ie account when ordering the subscription. The system will then automatically assign the "paid member" role to your account and you will see the benefits immediately. If anyone has any concerns or questions after completing the subscription please fell free to reach out to me by PM or email hello@boards.ie and we will get it rectified as quickly as we can.

    Thanks guys, Mike.

If allowed, why not add a comment to the Wikipedia page for Boards?

Wikipedia would treat that as a conflict of interest, you’re not allowed to edit a page that you have a connection to.

Considering I saved 800 on smart watches this week I've taken a punt on a year.

    Hoping boards delivers.

I like to keep control over reoccurring payments from my bank. Is there a 1 off payment option?

Currently only the half year/annual sub would give close to that. By that stage we'll all know if it's going to be reoccuring anyway…

Subbed for the year. Best of luck with it! My browser without boards in it's favourites tab would be a sad sight.

Personally I think it’s bad form taking annual subs now when the site will likely be gone in a matter of weeks or month or two. I don’t really agree with asking for subs at all for what is essentially a borked forum on its last legs.

It will be sad to see it go but since we’re at the stage where they need handouts then it’s time for the owners to swallow some pride and sell it to someone else who hopefully can inject some life back into it.

Its kind of obvious from reading the other thread that nobody is interested in buying it. Maybe a site that has an income stream would be more attractive to buyers but the great thing is you don't have to sub if you don't want to.

@DopeTech Well then either pay for a month, or don't pay at all… you won't be locked out of anything, unlike the Irish Times, Examiner, Indo… are they looking for 'handouts' too? No, they found that an online model depending purely on ads didn't work for them, and they're far from alone

I don't use it on mobile but going ad-free there should make for a much better experience (scrolling etc) straight away

Yeah but literally anyone else could! (well, unless some clown got your ISP's entire IP address range locked out due to vandalism… 🙄)

It's decent value for what the site gives back imo. Best of luck.

I can't in all honesty subscribe to a site thst was willing to sell out to a useless crowd who made it almost unusable.

When issues are still outstanding and show little or no sign of being corrected.

But The moment the powers to be realise that things are going south, the begging bowl is out.

    Disappointing but true.

Good idea let us know when you find a buyer for a site that’s massively in debt with no chance of making a profit.

If it wasn’t for the current owner the lights would have went off years ago.
