I guess this is progress, pro israel posters admitting there is a genocide.

Gone very quiet now . Imagine your own government being able to stop a war overnight in which it's assumed 10s of thousands of your citizens have died . Yet they won't .

    its hard to believe .

AH yes like the Holocaust, genocide is a buzzword. Not a war crime. So Hamas could stop this buzzword happening?

    Stop genocide overnight you say?

I'll tell you something, for somebody born yesterday you have a masterful command of the English language.

I suppose Hamas made them do the above as well.

The genocide might pause or alleviate somewhat but stop? I don't think so. I wouldn't trust Israel to keep the ceasefire and I certainly wouldn't trust them to let sufficient aid in to stop the forced starvation. I believe Hamas want a permanent ceasefire but Israel only want a 2 month ceasefire. Given that Israel are doing ALL the slaughtering, maybe it's Israel that needs to concede a little especially on full access to aid agencies and medical staff/aid. You know full well the Israeli government want to continue the slaughter, starvation and displacement. There are no military targets anymore and yet Israel keep slaughtering innocent people. It's not a war, it's a terror campaign. Agree? Israel want Gaza unlivable so that they can force the Palestinians to leave. They certainly won't let Gaza re-establish any semblance of a health system for all the people they have maimed. They are only muslims.

Glad you admit to the genocide finally. Well done.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,229 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

the reality is that Gaza is already unlivable . If Israel aren't going to stop bombing it then it's own Government should put a stop to it .Surrender, release the hostages. Let the world put pressure on Israel to make it livable again. It's the only realistic solution.

Do you ever get upset when you see the inhumane suffering of the people in Gaza?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Are personal anecdotes allowed in this thread?

I don't mean everyone in Ireland. Sure we have lads here who straight up support Israel so how could I mean that.

What are you going to tell me next that we've not been anti English for a long time too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,079 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Well that's just a load of meaningless waffle to back up a statement that was utter nonsense.

Defend your "Ireland is anti-semitic" statement please. You made it, back it up.

And answer the question I asked. I'll repeat here so you cannot dodge again - "I'll tell you what - why don't you provide one good reason to support your erroneous statement?"

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

I agree with this. They should have surrendered on Oct 8th morning and released the hostages. They should release them today too, it's no different.

It wouldn't stop what's happening though - it has nothing to do with hostages.

It's ridiculous that the most powerful country in the middle east can commit genocide on a defenceless population and claim that that same defenseless population made them do it because they were annexistensial threat, and have anyone with an iota of sense swallow it. I believe the ratio of Palestinians dead Vs Israeli dead is around 97% / 3% now, October 7th included. It's absurd.

There was a ceasefire for the first two months of 2025 which Hamas were following to the letter and aid was entering the strip. The war criminal Netanyahu unilaterally decided to restart the bombing of Gaza in mid-March and to pull all humanitarian aid. Were you not following the news back then?

Prime Time pushing their usual agenda, they were interviewing a woman who was brought over here with her son for medical treatment and surprise surprise now she wants the rest of the family to be let in as well.

She should be thankful to be getting free medical treatment for her kid when Irish people have to wait years but no thats not enough, they always want more.

It should be all the arab countries in the ME providing this medical treatment instead of a small country like Ireland but we will never learn.

Be honest - you didn't post "stop the slaughter" did you? You said "Genocide".

And no, as usual, there is a mistaken belief that even when there is a ceasefire, the Genocide will not stop. There is a concentration camp under construction in Rafah.

But crack on and put the deluded blame on Hamas for Israel having to drop bombs, kill kids and starve a population.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Yea dead right, them Palestinians don't know how good they have it.

Not surprised to see the lack of humanity hasn't left this thread since I've been, 'away'.

    In principle yes.

However, when you factor in the politics of the hard right in the Israeli govt. it becomes abundantly clear.

Smotrich and Ben-Gvir (convicted terrorist) are propping up the Alleged War Criminal's Govt. Netanyahu needs the war to avoid testifying in his corruption trial and stay out of jail. Smotrich wants to clear Gaza for the Settlers to move in. Alleged War Criminal #1 actually reneged on the previous ceasefire so Ben-Gvir would return to Cabinet so the budget could pass.

Hamas releasing all the hostages and leaving Gaza - which they have said since last year, would burst the Genocidal bubble, have Netanyahu facing time in Israeli prison before being shipped to The Hague and Smotrich/Ben-Gvir running for their lives being chased by Settlers.

The Israeli govt. does not want a ceasefire.

I'd imagine she is very thankful for the medical treatment for her child.

I for one would have no problem at all for the tax I pay to be used to help people like the Palestinians who are being genocided. Like we assisted the Ukrainians.

But sure, I guess some folks simply lack any humanity at all. That is something you either have or don't have - it isn't "learned" at all.

I'm well aware of Irish folks who "bend the rules" to get what they want. Why persecute this one unfortunate lady?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Absolutely, I'm saying they should release the hostages in principle as they are innocent people.

It won't stop a damn thing though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,651 ✭✭✭dmcdona

but there is a constant drone of "release the hostages and it'll all be over in a jiffy and we can circle, join hands and sing Kumbay"

    Deluded

It's like beating someone into a meat crayon while screaming "Stop doing this to yourself!'

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 8,048 Mod ✭✭✭✭circadian

Everything's the immigants fault. Even when it's not their fault, it's their fault. Amirite?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,045 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Its not our job to sort out all the problems in the world and take in every hard luck story.

Or indeed throw millions of euro here there and everywhere.

She is not grateful at all, she clearly said she wants the rest of her family to be let in here which isn't part of the deal.

Its take take take because they know we are a soft mark country.

If they agree to what she wants then others will want the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,651 ✭✭✭dmcdona

But we're not taking in every hard luck story are we?

I think you're being a bit melodramatic - she may well have asked for her family to come here - hasn't happened though, has it?

Do you think we should be throwing millions into UNIFIL? Do you think the child should have not been let in for treatment at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,045 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

If a few are brought over for treatment that's fair enough but she wants something that is not part of the deal.

Let's get real here, she hasn't a notion of going back, the government will cave to pressure from the libs and her other kids will be brought over.

I'm cool with that. I'm not a heartless bastard and see it as a solid investment in people who have huge potential to contribute.

I'm more concerned about our governments ability to ACTUALLY waste money and continue to half ass the property cost issue because the majority of them are landlords. Hitting Airbnb and placing strict rules on what can be a BNB would directly impact rents and property prices.

Our property market has been hugely commodified, it's supercharged by this ****. This has a direct impact on literally everything else.

Investing in people who are living in hell on earth is not the problem. No matter how easy it is to blame immigrants and asylum seekers, they aren't the problem.
