so we got the above satellite dish and free to air system - 274 stations - radio also..

Q is there a way to view what programmes are on as oppose to just seeing a list of stations?

    TIA

FTA satellite receivers don't have a programme guide. The programme stream only carries now and next programme data.

Proprietary satellite receivers like Sky and Freesat access their own separate data streams for their programme guides.

What make and model is your TV. A lot of modern TV's have a satellite tuner, and some of them can be used for Freesat.

Amiko is simply a bad buy.

those boxes do now and next with regards to EPG , thats it.

A full 7 day EPG is available for FTA from the IEPG channel on the Astra Satellite for all boxes that support it. Amiko is NOT one of them.

Any Enigma 2 Box , such as Octagon , Gigablue , VU + Zgemma , etc. are able to pull down and use a 7 day EPG from the Astra Satellite for all FTA channels.

See here for an endless list of E2 boxes that support 7 day EPG

In most Enigma 2 operating systems ( Im using openvix , others here use openatv ) the OpenTV EPG Downloader or the EPG importer plugin , which are baked into the openvix OS under EPG , can pull down a 7 day EPG. You simple set it up to run daily , usually in the early hours of the morning so that it doesnt bother you. Mine is set to 4am.

You can plug the cable from the satellite dish into the back of the TV, and tune in the channels using the remote. Settings, Channel Setup. But if you could get someone to help you to get started that might be best. Plenty of information including videos online.

That is an ace TV and YOU will have to teach yourself how to set it up. I played the video and if you pause at 5.34 it shows the rear connections and it has an input for an aerial, SAORVIEW and 2 inputs for satellite which means it will have a recording facility as well, ie record one channel and watch another using USB port. And if you set it up from scratch choose uk as your country then it will have freesat epg that is for 7 days.

The problem that TV is a bugger to set up but you could post a separate thread asking for help. I hope your dish guy put in 2 cables from dish, if not get him back, get an aerial and a second cable from dish. and ask for a refund for that amiko, i'm surprised he did not check the TV.

If you can get it set up its perfect.

here is a pic of the 3 inputs.

thank you - another prob - tv is mounted to the wall - so hard to get at stuff..

    😁not near

Post another thread and you may get lucky. You might find those TV's fitted to the wall can be pulled out for access but wont move a lot. And they can be fitted in such a way that it is nigh impossible to get access ie stop theft. Was the guy who did the dish any good…

Try this one, they can only say no.

I checked that TV for you and its 2018 vintage, you have said you are clueless, so your tv is an android TV and it will not have the FREESAT 7 day epg. There is no point having a separate thread as tv is 8 years old.

Can you get to TV to connect sat cables, that's the first part? Have you 2 sat cables? And is there an aerial fitted with a lead near tv?
