First time we're seeing emotions from Piastri. He is human.

Biggest favour Piastri could do himself is to shut up

Careful Lando, they’ll give you a penalty for that language. 😂 So happy for Nico, almost got me emotional there.

100 mph of braking from Piastri according to Brundle reading the report.

Silence says enough there when they showed the replay in the cool down room.

Yep. It’s how hard he hit the brakes that was the problem, not that he braked.

The cool down room was brought to you by,

The Incredible Hulk, the incredible Sulk and our race winner.

Channel 4 didn't show the cool down room. They went to an ad break just after the post race interviews.

    How many races for Hulk?

To make Hulk's podium even better, he came from 19th place to finish 3rd. Incredible indeed.

He knows better than to criticise the hatchet job corrupt regime that wants Lando to win at home.

Renault involved somehow just haven't figured it out yet.

8 points between Piastri and Norris now while Mclaren are 238 points ahead of Ferrari in the constructors

LLooking at The replay of the SC incident, the whole field bunched up as Piastri was almost completely stationary so the penalty is a fair cop

What do folks think of the Lego trophies? Think I’d be a bit miffed getting a toy trophy (Lego is cool but not in case), at least Lando got the real deal too.

There can't actually be anyone suggesting that Piastri was hard done by with that penalty surely. It was a slam dunk. Great win for Norris, kept it clean. And delighted for Hulk

Where are people getting the unjust penalty for Piastri from? Granted, the lights went out on the safety car late, but he still slammed on applying just under 60psi of brake pressure and dropped 100mph. Evn Hulkenburg said in the cool down room the whole field bunched up. It was dangerous and he only has himself to blame IMO

Can't believe Piastri asked the team to swap around. Ridiculous.

Anyway, my favourite driver of Hulkenberg finally got a podium. I was so nervous the last few laps. Absolutely delighted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,070 ✭✭✭Enzokk

I see Piastri asking about a possible swap in 2 ways, setting a precedent so in a future race if the same happens and roles are reversed he is not asked to swap positions.

Secondly, if the team do feel the penalty was wrong, then he is right and he was the quicker car without the penalty and he should by right have been ahead.

I am not saying he was right and the swap should have happened, but he should be asking those questions of the team if they tell him he did nothing wrong.

As strong as my love for my baby Oscar is he shouldn't have been serious in asking for a swap. Just race and fight for the position the old fashioned way.

Actually Bortorletto was waiting for Hulkenberg at the car.

    This too shall pass.

Piastri is still a little bitter after he got the penalty at Silverstone today. He said to the media again later on after his initial post-race interview with Jenson Button that he worked hard on trying to win the race but got a result that he didn't deserve.

I don't know what to say about that one tbh. It seemed pretty clear to me at the time that the way in which Oscar had dropped his speed in the car had ultimately impeded Max after that restart from the safety car.

He sure was but Max was the first one to him as he climbed out

    https://www.fia.com/system/files/decision-document/2025_british_grand_prix_-infringement-car_81-_safety_car_procedure.pdf

The Stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, telemetry, teamradio and in-car video evidence.

When the clerk of the course had declared that the safety car was coming in that lapand the lights were extinguished, Car 81 suddenly braked hard (59.2 psi of brakepressure) and reduced speed in the middle of the straight between T14 and T15, from218 kph to 52 kph, resulting in Car 1 having to take evasive action to avoid a collision.This momentarily resulted in Car 1 unavoidably overtaking Car 81, a position whichhe gave back immediately.

Article 55.15 of the FIA Sporting Regulations required Car 81 to proceed at a pacewhich involved no erratic braking nor any other manoeuvre which is likely to endangerother drivers from the point at which the lights on the safety car are turned off.

What Car 81 did was clearly a breach of that article. In accordance with the penaltyguidelines, we imposed a 10 second time penalty to Car 81.

When they sit down to debrief, I think he'll probably realise it was the correct decision. I wouldn't have expected McLaren to have acknowledged that publicly at any stage during the race because it'd hamper them if they did decide to lodge a protest later on. As for Piastri asking to switch places, the tv broadcast has been know to cherry pick snippets of conversation to generate a narrative. I'd like to have heard the conversation either side of that quote for context. If his engineer is telling him that he was hard done by, I wouldn't hold it against him for asking the team to give him back the win that they'd been telling him he deserved.
