Just get Vlahović on loan for the season. He wants out of Juventus and Juventus wants to move him on as he's a free agent in 12 months.

Take him for the year and if he does a good job you can try sign him or revisit the CF market in 12 months to see what long term options can be got.

At this stage I'm not fussed about Gyokeres. It's going to be a messy transfer with Sporting basically saying you ain't leaving for cheap and him sounding like someone that will go on strike to leave.

There was paper talk back in December about us being interested in John Victor. Think he signed a new contract with a low release clause to stay and play at the club WC this summer. Has worked out well for Botafogo as they've earned well at this summer's tournament which is massive for them given how competitive Brazilian football is.

United do need players and have huge work to do with players out and solving problems with players that are in a half space of in/out.

Rashford, Sancho, Anthony, Garnacho and Malacia are in the headlines.

They need to sort out Mainoo situation. Casemiro, Shaw, Maguire, Onana, Bayandir. All in zones of needing to be replaced in the short term.

I am not surprised the in's are not happening at pace with no Europe and so many problems in the current squad.

Said the same last week and its been picked up yday by 3 or 4 Brazilian media outlets aswell. Low cost transfer so not much risk, let bayinder move on and his feelings would pretty much cover the fee for Victor John. Phase out Onana hopefully and maybe promote Harrison next summer to replace Heaton .

Id much rather United to just go out and buy a ST this summer instead of the loans and loan to buy scenarios. It's about time we brought in someone relatively prove ln and spend on that position

With what money and who? Probably barely have the money needed to buy Mbeumo never mind throwing a CF in there.

The complete lack of even made up rumour from the BS sites re Mbeumo is actually kinda weird.

All of last weekend everybody was claiming the 3rd bid was about to go in, United had set a deadline and were ready to pull the plug, medicals booked etc.

Now it's been complete silence since around Tuesday.

right now, i want the mbuemo to be signed.

however after the cunha signing, i thought it would be striker and CM (GK depends on onana). going after a 2nd 10 and moving bruno back to CM just seems odd to me.

    maybe it'll work.

They said they were done paying the United tax but splashed +50M on a teenager with 12 months left on his contract which Berrada said was his personal project. INEOS can't complain about the United tax and then make a signing like that. One which sounds like the new CEO wanted no matter the price.

Mbeumo will make an instant impact it's worth paying the few extra mill instead of hoping Brentford take £55M plus some add-ons for their best player. Brentford upped the price because we took the piss and bid £55M when they said they wanted a price similar to Cunha.

When you're signing a teams best player and especially from a well run club like Brentford you're gonna have to pay. IMO United's biggest issue has always been paying stupid wages.

Think if we want to bring in a few players this summer we'll have to look at the loan market for a couple of signings. Luiz and Vlahović are two options from Juventus, if Bayern have a genuine interest in Rashford they have Palhinha they want to move on.

Why woukd anyone care. He literally said he wanted to leave the club. He is gone as far as I'm concerned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,813 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

did he literally say that? i dont think so.

why would anyone care? cos it matters with any potential sales price.

if we had owners that would put money in, supplement any FFP/PSR loss (still unsure which is the prevailing legislation), it wouldn't matter so much.

*“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”**

**“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. ... If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. ... When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”**

    > **“It’s disappointing but I’m also someone as I’ve got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it? Or do my best the next time I’m available.”**

It's funny because someone that disects every little thing about the manager but you don't see how Rashford said he wants to leave the club.

This is the crap that goes on at United and eth had to deal to th before him. Problems not in management it was in the previous board room and contracts they gave out it's made players that should be fighting for their future sit back on guaranteed contracts that they wouldn't get anywhere else and not give a toss about the club.

i reckon everyone wants him gone. i've wanted him gone for (i cant remember exactly) a few years now, preceding ETH's 1st season.

its the literally part that i picked up on - its just untrue.

it is refreshing that they have been told to not return for preseason.

Reports tonight that we've moved to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free

That story appears to be from the Sun so crisis averted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 442 ✭✭Seattle

He's better than Hojlund. Much better.

I'd have no problem with us signing DCL on a free as long as the salary is reasonable and is heavily structured around playtime bonuses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,183 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Hojlund probably needs a loan as well. A season away from OT. Re-find his form. Develop.

DCL is grand so long as he isn't our main striker. But on a free as an option in the squad? Yeah worth a shot.

Presumbly Mbeumo can also play right side of the 4 /wingback in a 3-4-2-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,909 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

He's played there once for Brentford if transfermarkt is correct. Though they don't account for in-game changes if it happened. His last season in France he played RM in a 4-4-2.

If Amad can play RWB I'd say there's no reason that Mbeumo couldn't slot in there to possibly do a job if needed. Think Cunha similar for LWB. When we played them in the 2-0 loss where Cunha scored direct from a corner he was coming from L10 back to LWB to help Aït-Nouri double up on Amad. At times Cunha was deeper than Aït-Nouri defending against Amad I believe.

Amorim likes his WBs to actually be wingers. So would be interesting to see if Cunha or Mbeumo ever end up at WB during a game if he wanted to get more attackers on the pitch if chasing the game. That's likely the only reason I'd ever want to see them at WB.

If we get both it's going to make a massive difference in how our front three operate. Another big positive if we get both in is they're both better than Bruno when it comes to set pieces. Both should be on corners and free kicks when crossing the ball.

Maybe another tick for the WB position if you're chasing the game and trying to get crosses into the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,909 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

The option for strikers is slim and would drag out longer than Mbeumo who fingers crossed gets done this week if the reports about them having a medical slot booked for him are true.

With Cunha and Mbeumo I think it improves the front three already even if it's Hojlund or Zirkzee. Not that I hope either of them are our first choice come the 1st of September.

I do wonder if secretly Amorim was somewhat wishing Bruno moved. I'd assume the club would only sell for the full fee up front. Which would have given him the cash and positive PSR bounce from the sale to splash on a CM and CF.

Would have loved to been a fly on the wall in those meetings between Berrada, Wilcox, and Amorim when discussing the Bruno stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,909 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

If Hojlund leaves this summer even on loan I think there's a good chance we don't see him in a United shirt again in a competitive game. I emphasis competitive game because he could play preseason if no clauses end up in his loan deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,070 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

I did wonder the same re Bruno. Cunha & Mbeumo arriving would dramatically reduce the impact of his loss and the funds would have been most welcome.

Maybe Bruno was who Amorim was thinking of when he said the club would need to make brave decisions in the summer window.

That said, he's been one of the very few to show some passion and drive for the shirt in recent years so it would have been a tough decision to then push him out. And a risky one at that. His influence in the squad would be missed.

I think Amorim would've had the conversation with Bruno if he wanted him gone.

Maybe, he couldn't in good conscience let go of our best player, when we can't even give a lot of the dregs away.

How can somebody refind their form if they never had any to begin with, Hojlund has been poor for the entirety of his 2 years in the team.

He has failed the audition, and if United wants to have high standards again then that means we stop persisting with players that aren't up to scratch.

I'm sure he will find a patch of form here and there at a smaller club in the future, but it will never mean that he should be brought back.

Gyokeres looks to be off to Arsenal according to Ornstein. I don’t think we were ever in for him? (he wanted Arsenal anyway)

Højlund out and Watkins in could be the move but it feels unrealistic for now unless something more than rumours with Højlund and Inter develops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,813 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

gyokeres aint happening. now onto plan d, or whatever it is.

More on Viktor Gyökeres big news.

Gyökeres has reached TOTAL agreement with Arsenal on contract terms and informed Sporting about his desire to join #AFC.

No intention to discuss other options, only to proceed with Arsenal as soon as possible.

    Deal well underway.

By the time we sell the unwanted, all the strikers will be gone and we'll be left with the bargain bin….
