And the worst part about it - Mitch McConnell is right. Voters will just get over it and continue to vote against their own interests.

The actual president of the USA.

Donald J. Trump Truth Social 07.02.25 09:22 PM EST

Rep. Jamie Raskin, a third rate Democrat politician, has no idea what is in our fantastic Tax Cut Bill, nor would he understand it if he did. This DOPE has been consistently losing to me for YEARS, and I love watching his ugly face as he is forced to consistently concede DEFEAT TO TRUMP — And tonight should be another of those nights. Raskin is a bad politician, and a TOTAL LOSER!

Didn't some Israeli minister insist there couldn't be genocide in Gaza because there weren't train carriages and gas chambers?

    Whats happened America

    https://www.latintimes.com/trump-ally-slammed-saying-alligators-everglades-detention-center-are-guaranteed-least-65-586091

Far right activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer is being slammed online after saying that alligators in the new migrant detention center in Florida, which has been dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," "are guaranteed at least 65 million meals."

Former Barack Obama aide and Pod Save America host Tommy Viettor called Loomer a "lunatic" over the post, claiming that the 65 million figure was a reference to the Latino population in the country.

President Trump's marquee Bill has passed the first hurdle in Congress. Great achievement so far 👏 Soon ordinary working Americans will be enjoying big tax cuts.

I can understand some ordinary Americans getting duped by Trumps campaign during the election. A lot of Americans feel left behind by the system, are not comfortable with the the volume of immigration and are a lot broker that they were 5 - 10 years ago dye to inflation.

What I can't understand is the people who still support him now, 6 months in, and can't see that the only people he is serving is the lobby massive lobby groups, like oil companies etc. and his billionaire friends. All while whipping up hate against minority groups, and brown/black people.

The people who still support him, after he has fully revealed who he is, can only be described as morons (unless you are a billionaire looking to get richer) and the fact that it looks like his approval ratings are still hovering around 40% of the population, says a lot about America as a whole.

I had high hopes for America figuring him out early, and kicking him to the kerb, but I now fear this has to run it's course before the slow learners in the population finally cop on to him, when unfortunately, it will be too late.

Can you elaborate on some of these tax cuts and what kind of savings will the "ordinary working Americans" actually realise?

The USA exploited irregular immigration since WWII when it first brokered a labour agreement with Mexico to ensure crops got harvested for the war effort. The fact that this has been a norm for eight decades but is now a problem is more about one political outsider stoking racism to gain traction.

    How many ordinary working Americans?

Presumably you are aware about the ordinary Americans who will see savage cuts to their medical packages.

So your opinion is that it is a great achievement.

Speaks volumes and demonstrates you don't really have any concern whatsoever for ordinary Americans and will just applaud whatever Trump does without any scrutiny on any level.

Recent changes to the bill would cut roughly $1.1 trillion in health-care spending and result in 11.8 million people losing health insurance over the next decade, according to estimates from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office…
More than $1 trillion of those cuts would come from Medicaid, a joint federal and state health insurance program for disabled and low-income Americans, according to the CBO.

So you applaud cuts to those programmes.
If you do not reply to this post, it will be reasonably to assume that is your position. You are in favour of cutting supports to disabled and low-income Americans.

When the Jews ran from Europe to settle in Israel, some looked back at the Nazi's to make sure they weren't being followed, some looked back to see what they could learn.

There are some, not all, but some Jewish people who are extremists that are no different than the Nazi's with respect to how they look at people they dislike.

I remember a couple of years ago Angela Merkel countered a point being made about how society had learned its lesson of the holocaust by saying that we will know exactly what we have learned when all who experienced it are gone. How right she was.

Soon Americans will be subjected to huge Medicaid cuts that will increase the debt of average Americans. Plus things like nursing homes etc potentially shutting down. They're really gonna be having a good time.

Lol, look at you trying to trigger people by pretending you believe this bill gives tax cuts to ordinary working Americans.

You believe that is the case about as much as I do.

I no longer have any time for the "left behind" narrative. One leaves keys or a phone behind, not millions of people.

The US is a democracy, albeit a deeply flawed one. The hole in the left behind narrative is that people in red states have spent generations voting for a party that actively despises them and we see the result time and time again.

I could maybe have sympathised in 2016 but the response of these places is to harden and deepen their support so here we are again. Biden deliberately went out of his way to help places like this and it didn't change their minds one bit. I used to think that all they wanted were good jobs and purchasing power but clearly a lot of Republican voters only care about making the other suffer.

For a country that loves to beat its chest about free speech and being number one, there seems to be a real culture of sycophancy and anti-intellectualism over there. Anything goes so long as certain sacred cows such as the second amendment are never seriously questioned.

It's disgusting seeing them act as victims now when they had their choice between a competent leader and the parasite they actually chose.

I have no sympathy for Americans.

Half of them voted exactly for this. They wanted this cruelty, they wanted this us vs them conflict. If it bites them in the hole and takes chunk out of them, then good, I hope they suffer immeasurably for their deplorable politics.

The other half who didn't vote for this are too weak and punched drunk to even take a unified stand against it. If this was any European country who's government was doing what Trump's administration is doing, there'd be constant protests until there was a change of government. If it was Spain or France, there'd be violent riots, and I'm not sure that wouldn't be the case elsewhere either.

Land of the free and home of the brave? Fells more like the land of cult and the home of the cuck.

They deserve everything they get. They want Trumpism, they now exactly what it is and they wanted it, so let them suffer under it. And I hope the suffer bad, teach them a lesson that they'll either learn, or won't heed and fall away because of it. I hope it's a particularly painful lesson either way, and it's shaping up to be.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/02/kilmar-abrego-garcia-tortured-cecot

Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was illegally deported to El Salvador was subjected to torture. This also raises the fact huge numbers have been subjected to torture as a result of Trump's deportations. To all those who jump into the thread to praise Trump, you are supporters of this ultimately.

Weren’t the likes of Kermit complaining about us debt under Biden

Yet now cheer for another 3 trillion that be added on?

Trump always said he will not cut medicare the sad thing is this bill will hurt all middle class voters and all working class voters s eg 90 per cent of trump voters cutting tax breaks to solar wind energy is crazy in the face of high demand for more power generators. It also kills an industry that has 100,000 workers who all pay tax it makes no sense at all it's estimated 50ooo people will die every year for lack of access to healthcare it also makes it more expensive for any woman who wants to have children it's a truly evil cruel bill that will shape the whole American economy for years to come

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,182 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

In fairness to Musk (shudder), he's the only one still going on about that.

Obviously he's doing it for his own gain rather than for any love and care of Americans but still.

It is really mind boggling. Seems that Republican party supporters actually like shooting themselves in the foot, they feel the pain, blame the Democrats, then shoot themselves again.

Case to the point. Many US farmers now have to let their crops rot in the fields because they had relied on the migrant labor. Many of these farmers support Trump. It is like they cannot put 2 and 2 together. If you rely on migrants, maybe it is not a great idea, even from a purely economic sense, to support migrant worker deportation?

So the "brave" House GOP holdouts appear to be folding. I wonder what sort of threats they were subjected to:

The suffering is fine when it affects everyone but me. It's the same tedious line over and over again from these cretins.

I was reading today about an Ulster Unionist politician who was badly bullied by senior officers in the British Army. He said that being a Unionist should have exempted him, not that the bullying was wrong.

    It's always the same thing.
