Automatic Transmission Fluid change in Limerick?

I've got a torque converter automatic with nearly 100,000km on it. The fluid is light brown so I think it would be a good idea to change it.

Could anyone recommend a mechanic in Limerick (or surrounding area) who would do a drain and fill?

    What year/ make/ model?

With the kilometres that low, it might be worth getting quotes from main dealers. You'd be sure of a proper job.

Otherwise, established gearbox specialists. A lot of gearboxes now have strict specifications for the oil to be used. New filter if applicable, of course.

    It's a 2012 Hyundai ix20.

Getting it done at a Hyundai dealer is a good idea.

I also googled "limerick gearbox specialist" and there's a place called Limerick Gearbox Centre, so I have at least two options.

    Thanks!

I tend to avoid main dealers like the plague as I like to drive older cars and I can't justify the higher costs - I use an independent or do it myself if I can. I'd make an exception for an autobox oil change after a bad experience with my 2012 Mondeo powershift when I had the oil changed by a gearbox specialist. I ended up having to go to the main dealer to get a leak fixed that was either caused by the indy or just ignored. I later found out that the basic oil change would only have cost €50 more at the Ford dealer. Well worth getting a quote.

That may be the case, and may be why my box leaked, but that's nothing to do with the bad experience I had with the gearbox specialist. After threatening the small claims court I got a full refund and some extra € which left me slightly out of pocket but it could have been worse.

My point was that I assumed the main dealer would be exorbitantly expensive compared to the gearbox specialist - if I had checked in advance I'd have paid the extra € to have it done by Ford who are much more conveniently located.

Actually, iirc there two different types of powershift gearbox used by Ford in cars of a similar age, with one being a lot more problematic than the other.…I hope 😀.
