The complaining about the toughening of US immigration rules across the board is a little nauseating coming from a country that has allowed immigration run out of control.

I suspect there are a lot of Irish people who would welcome just a fraction of the approach the US has traditionally taken to the immigration of those in to the US who would not be considered an asset to the country, never mind what the Trump administration is doing.

It's just the usual Trump bashing.

The debt is massive about 15 per cent of tax's go,s to pay the debt every year .the new beautiful bill gives the rich big tax breaks .The dollars value is falling This bill looks like it was written by putin to destroy the American economy it takes away tax breaks for solar power green energy while ai uses a tremendous amount of water and power it adds new taxs to green energy if it uses any parts or chips from china

It adds 4 trillion. Dollars in debt it removes 9 million adults from medicare in a clever way working adults will need. To fill out overly complex forms to try and hold onto medicare 100s of hospitals will close as they rely on Medicare patients This bill is an attack on the middle class and working class economys mmove in cycles Ai threatens millions of jobs.

If there's a recession America could be caught in a debt doom cycle as increasing amounted of tax. Gos to pay the national debt

The green energy sector is booming in America 1000s of jobs are at risk of all government grants are **** down over night we are seeing record high temps hot weather in the last few weeks This bill is the dream of the most extreme rich conservative who only loves the rich

Trump is to visit Alligator Alcatraz this week-

Any chance they could keep him-?-

I don't think most people would support such broad criteria to remove citizenship from people. I'd also put money on it being very specific demographics that are targeted. It's pretty telling that GOP supporters are trying to get Mamdani's citizenship revoked. Meanwhile he's selling citizenship to the highest bidders at the same time.

I hope the dumbasses who spend 5 million on Trump golden citizenship don’t realise that the precedent has been set and their own citizenship be revoked (after spending millions) and send to likes of El Salvador under the next president

Unless they willing to bet there is no president, in which case us citizenship means **** all anyways

Do you know what's actually nauseating? The likes of you condoning this barbarism. Or how about the pregnant woman who lost her baby while in custody. Are you enjoying the cruelty of it all? And no, there aren't a "lot of Irish people who would welcome a fraction" of this. Maybe you need reminding how many anti-immigration candidates were elected in the last GE.

All of this looks like it was done to undermine the fabric of American society. He's hobbling the country little by little by a thousand cuts. There is no way any of this is making America "Great"

    https://forums.theregister.com/forum/all/2025/06/27/us_hurricane_satellite_data_to_stop/

"If you were running the US government on behalf of Russian interests, this is exactly the kind of move you’d make: degrade critical civilian infrastructure, hobble disaster preparedness, and do it under the thinnest bureaucratic excuse possible. Cutting off high-value satellite data during hurricane season, with no replacement and zero transparency, isn’t just negligent - it’s hostile."

The US Department of Defense is cutting off data from USAF weather satellites which can give 3D views of storms.

I predict a disaster there,ll be a wildfire or a flood hurricane that of course the weakened federal infrastructure and emergency services will not be ready to deal with a serious disaster. All federal agencys are experiencing layoffs even the weather satellite monitor services.

The ol "it is just Trump bashing", you are in favour of citizens of the US being rounded up like cattle? You like this dehumanizing stragegy?

    That is rather sick.

Not in the slightest bit sorry for them.

They saw him in his previous term and knew what he was. They were amply warned by many as to what he would be and just choose to ignore. Those of them that have been there for a few years thought they would be safe, and were more than happy to pull up the drawbridge to stop other Latinos entering. And those of Irish descent who voted for him in large numbers were no better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,621 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

Like leaving the E.U. that is going to happen any day now when you see the large numbers who voted in favour of that hard right approach in the recent local and general election.

If you actually live in Ireland you do not get out much do you ?

I can’t help but wonder is the post meant to be signalling to his followers that he takes religion remotely seriously, or is it just a means to knock a dollar or two off AT&T share price in order to further his own business interests without explicitly saying so. At the same time I’m thinking it’s entirely plausible that he just doesn’t know how to use the Cisco networking equipment provided, ie - a phone 😒

Context though. The media keep asking them about it and Trump doesn't need to be asked twice to waffle on.

I remember trying to discuss the issue with a Trump fan here previously.

I said that Trump made no distribution between illegal and legal immigrants. They tried to argue otherwise, but walked away when I provided quotes that backed up what I said.

We are on a direct and prompt march towards the deportation of any non white Christian people.

Presidents are not supposed to be making money from the office they hold. How the hell is he still getting away with blatant grifting like this.

Why is there nobody in the party calling this out for the embarrassment that it is to the seat of the Presidency.

I mean, this really shows that for all the dislike towards Pence, he actually did something really courageous in putting the Constitution and Country before the party.

That was the last act of a Republican who believed in America for all the people.

There will be serious damages coming from the hurricane season and any fallout won't stick with Trump.

He'll blame the governors and mayors like he did with Los Angeles and the wild fires. He'll blame the Biden administration.

If it's a blue state he'll delay the support funding and nothing will go against him.

It's happened already and it will happen again and it doesn't matter the loss of life or infrastructure. It won't stick to him.

But he'll turn up at some point again with Melania in her stupid designer fatigues and start throwing toilet paper at people and the MAGA crowd will lose their sxxt at how great a front line leader they have.

I'm really hoping what Scaramuci says here comes to pass and it's a case of just waiting Trump out until the mid-terms but unfortunately he's also correct in his assessment of the Democrats and something people have said here too, they're too fractured to put up a unified fight.

Also, it was interesting to hear about 4:30 on how Trump knows his base and everything Trump says and does is for his base.

You've spent a decade slavishly praising the convicted felon. What do you get out of this?

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

I think Trump is essentially kicking out anyone he feels he can - it doesn’t matter about service to the country etc- we’re seeing that now around the removal of those with green cards but with criminal records- it’s all a numbers game and Trump needs high numbers of evicted “illegal” immigrants- mostly law abiding tax paying green card holders but with some criminal record or those in the process of applying for residency are the low hanging fruit - they’re easy to locate and unlikely to be violent.

The drug dealers and “scum” as he’s called them are likely to be far less accessible - there will still be 100,000s of foreign criminals left after 100,000s of mostly law abiding people have been kicked out -but it’s the numbers that matter- although even those will be lied about no doubt

I don’t think the colour of skin or religious affiliation will save these people especially if they were registered Democrat or independent at some stage or on any way critics the regime whom are now using Palantir AI to build purge lists

We’ve seen Trump openly mocking the Catholic pope already

I also distinctly remember posters here not comprehending that they are like frogs being slow boiled and the inflection point on the fascism slide long way past the now torn checks and balances

It’s the MAGA playbook - it’s all an act- an illusion -but it works- that’s the frightening thing- American newspapers and media are appearing gutless and weak- Trump has surrounded himself with the illusion of a press corps but they’re simple pro Trump so called journalists - he speaks not daily or weekly but hourly- flooding the news and media channels with Trump-gumpf- journalists can’t keep up- and those that try are simply mocked and insulted by Trump.

Do the American people care? I’m beginning to think they don’t- America economically is going down the toilet from the perspective of rich and poor and inequality gaps- many are likely continuing to put their faith in Trump simply because there is no alternative - MAGA is their new religion - it’s their only hope so if “foreigners” get chucked out, or a few countries are less safe because of American aggression or apathy, who cares as long as America becomes great again .

    Speaking of revoking citizenship

This guy better shut up now, his companies can and are being bankrupted and rest can be seized

When the day he’s put on an ICE flight comes I will have a good long laugh at karma doing it’s thing

USD slides past 1.18 per euro. Inflation increasing again so I doubt there'll be an interest rate cut.

161 days into Trump v2 and the Dow Jones has increased by a whopping…. +0.15%

Same duration into Biden's term it was up +8.2%, Under Trump v1 +6.4% and Obama +9.8%

In contrast the Dax is up 12.8% or 29.2% in $ value.

I wouldn't put too much into stock gains as a lot of managed funds are legally bound to buy "safe" stocks with abysmal returns.

50% of US workers own stocks compared 15% in Ireland.
