It looks presentable though, quite a few places in Bray could do with upping their presentation

It was busy enough when we got there. Only two of us. I noted a lady in the Q behind us, not sure why, but after we had our food ordered and eaten, the same woman was only moving from the Q. Time wise, that was easily 30 minutes.

Dropped into The Pantry earlier. Rotten it was. Probably need to try a few things to get a better feel for the place but I wouldn't go back.

Food served on manky chopping boards. Watching the chef plate up a meal and he picks up a board from the shelf right in view of all the customers with food from the last order on it. No thank you.

Yeah, my partner said she won't be back either. I didn't notice the chopping board rotation, thats gross.

Saunas have appeared on the roof of Butler and Barry! Does anyone know anything about it?

No, but what a spot to enjoy the view while sitting in a tub having a cocktail or a beer.

The spot where the Vevay Inn used to be has been tarmacced and cars from the garage across the lane have been moved there. Looks slightly better than what was there before, but only just.

    From their website: www.seawatersaunas.ie.

"So here’s the truth: we’re not sauna experts. We didn’t grow up with wood-fired traditions or dream of pouring water on hot stones. But we do know a good view when we see one—and ours? Let’s just say, it’s a bit ridiculous. Perched up on the roof with a front-row seat to the Irish coastline—Killiney, Bray, all the way down to Greystones—it started with us just hanging out, watching the sea, and thinking: This place is too good not to share… but cold.

Then someone joked, “What if there was a sauna up here?” And instead of laughing it off, we looked at each other and went, “Actually… yeah.”

There's a new coffee place in the gym on Ardee St in the CSP gym called GRND.

I haven't tried it yet but great to have an option in Little Bray that isn't Starbucks!

Another coffee shop, just what Bray needs….. 😀

It looked like there was work being done on the town facing vacant "Bray Town Centre" unit (the one across from Butlers)… unless its just being used for another movie, but the doors were open and stuff was happening today.

Well it's these type of businesses that's going to dominate towns in future thanks to large shopping centres and online.

People are complaining about coffee shops, barbers and beauticians but other shops like Anvils, Allens and Mister T amongst many other are all gone as people weren't buying in them.

You are clearly correct for the examples that you mentioned, they did not get enough customers to survive. However, it does not necessarily follow that another coffee shop is what people really want.

I live down the Dargle and we had no places serving decent coffee down this side of the river. So it is a welcome addition.

Now, if only Conlon's would open a sister wine bar down here, that would be great.

There are plenty of coffee shops within a stones throw of the Dargle. See screenshot from Google maps:

There are 3 coffee shops on this side of the river.

Starbucks, Kitchen Cafe and now the new one. Starbucks is Starbucks, Kitchen Cafe is not great so any new place opening is a welcome addition to me.

The people of Bray should never be further that 50 metres away from a coffee shop.

I heard Bray estate agents shy away from letting premises to coffee shops as there are so many of them competing for business ...

Greetings from a fellow Dargler, a blow in at that, but a great place to live.

Obviously 3 will not be sufficient if the new one is not up to scratch 😀

Although I am a self confessed coffee addict I have no interest in using a coffee shop that is close to my home. I would prefer to make my own especially at current prices. It’s only when I’m further afield that visit coffee shops.

Each to their own I guess.

I hope you enjoy your new coffee shops because it looks like you will have no shortage of them.

returned to Chinatown on main street beside the bus stop and was pleasantly surprised to see they've increased their chinese menu and more authentic offerings - alot of them wouldn't be for me(tripe / liver / kidneys) but i'm hoping they can be convinced to do a few dishes up my alley e.g. Dan Dan Noodles

their won ton soup chinese style was very nice and comforting and the chili beef was top.

Wasn't busy but was glad to see some asian people come in and two solo people ordering from the chinese menu and sitting down with a pot of chinese tea.

    /not a shill ;)

    Diep Bray is no longer.

It has been taken over by Ecoco....

The food is nice, but they could do with taking down the Diep menu and signage as its very confusing.

also noticed an indian deli style place called malabar cafe opened (or reopened) where ingredients is in little bray - looks like it could be decent. Doing Dosa and biryani and other snack dishes

I heard this was a middle Eastern place... I'll check it out later today.

I must try Chinatown again, I've only been in there once and got the chow mein. Nicest Chow Mein I've ever eaten. My wife loves the Jasmine House so hard to convince her to try elsewhere.

Chinatown has become our go-to for takeaway too recently. Some of their Szechuan dishes are seriously hot!

I stuck my head in yesterday to get a glance of the menu's. Didn't see too much, a couple of dishes I recognized, the others I wasn't sure of. Will give it a try during the week.

I grabbed takeaway last eve and enjoyed it - I asked them to mix biryani and chicken curry on the side with Porrotta and also got Raita and a pickle which came to 13 euro - I found it good value and will return but it was 6PM and they had run out of alot of things.

Would be keen to try chicken 65 as two other customers who came after me asked for it and were turned down

It appears as though Daybreak will be taking the corner unit at Bray Central onto the Main Street based on the permissions on the door.

Yet another shop on the Main Street simply moving to a better unit and leaving the previous one vacant. Bray seriously needs to start rezoning some of the Main Street to residential- it will only get worse as the Sea Gardens market plaza opens. The Phase 2 there also has plans for new restaraunts, pub and shops. Wicklow County Council are drunk on commercial rates but the time has come to accept that Bray can only handle so much commercial.
