I doubt it's true. He wouldn't need to talk with Amorim to learn that Sancho is a (insert whatever). Don't know how to finish that sentences without a mod getting involved 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,293 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

Yep and Amorim has never worked with Sancho anyway. Even if he had, he wouldn’t be trying to put someone off buying him either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,814 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I think Amorim would give Jose an honest assessment of a player if asked. Seems to have tons of respect for Jose and spent time with him learning at the beginning of his career.

But as you also pointed out Amorim doesn't know Sancho. Sancho was out on loan before Amorim arrived and we all know already what type of character Sancho is. It's no secret.

Entirely different cirumstances and entirely different players. Christian Norgaard is a 31 year old midfielder and there (apparently) wasn't a lot of interest from other clubs in signing him + he may have had a deal with Brentford that he could leave for €X if Y type of club came in for him + the new manager Andrews may not see him as part of his plans so the club would have been looking to move him on.

Mbeumo on the other hand is a 25 year old forward (much more valuable than a midfielder) with his best years ahead of him and Utd are highly motivated to sign such a player + his old manager is now at Spurs and may want to recruit him thus creating come competitive tension in the sale process which only has one effect on the price Brentford can extract and that's up!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,224 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

And the prices show this 11m vs 65m

Do you think if we went for Norgaard they'd happily accept an 11m bid? I don't, it's why we bid for Malacia after they accepted a bid from Lyon, clubs love trying to fleece us due to our history under Woodward etc.

Liverpool seem to have wrapped up Guehi within a matter of days.

Ah how quickly the enthusiasm from the quick fire deal for Cunha has faded. Since then we've spent a month faffing around with Brentford.

    It's very frustrating

The more things change, the more they stay the same when it comes to utd in transfer windows

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,689 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I'm sure someone will be along soon to say the window is open until September 1st so nothing to worry about.

Despite this summer being a carbon copy of every other one this past decade or so.

The way I see it is that we know money was allocated for Cunha & Mbuemo. They’re trying to get BM done, yeah it’s slower than everyone wants but pre-season begins 7th July. Get it done before then and it doesn’t really make a difference. It would be very surprising if they don’t find an agreement.

After that, incomings depend on sales. We could be frustrated about the lack of outgoings but we also know these players are hard to move on because of their wages. We also want to maximise sale price, to allow for more signings, so we can’t just give them away either. It’s going to be fairly slow unfortunately but that’s mostly down to the people who have since left the club.

Yeah shyte or get off the pot. As much as I want Mbeumo, we shouldn't have spent a month on any transfer.

Get it done within a week or 2, or move on. But in poker terms we're basically "pot committed" now on Mbeumo because we've invested so much time and we're this close in terms of value.

they gotta be waiting on the stiker hoping arsenal go for sesko, opening the door for gyokeres.

if he goes for arsenal, no idea who we then go for.

Maybe if Utd went for Norgaard Brentford would up their expectation and hold out for £20m as it's the biggest club in the world calling for him whereas if Watford came calling for him they might lower their expectation to £10m.

It's not fleecing, it's exactly how pricing works in the real world.

If you want a pint of Guinness in Dublin you can get one 300m from Temple Bar for €6.50 but if you want one in Temple Bar it'll cost you €9:50. Same product, different prices depending on how motivated the buyers are.

Never charge anyone less than they are willing to pay :-)

Exactly, players that are hard to move on due to the stupid contracts they were previously given won't move until very late in the transfer market as time is the friend of the buying club, not Utd.

We'll see a lot of Loans with subsidised wage type deals happening otherwise the club will be left with the player on full wages but sitting in the stand and not part of the squad so economically any sort of loan where Utd doesn't have to pay the players full wages is better than letting them rot on full wages in the stands.

But we're the only club who've gone for Mbeumo, Tottenham never bid and the man himself said he only wants united, Norgaard is the club captain, older yes but equally as important, if we were the only club bidding for Norgaard they'd ask for more than 11m.

John Duran looking to leave Al-Nassr, possible loan deal maybe ? I know he's another young lad but he produced the goods at Villa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,942 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

    Thought he was Fenerbache bound?

Mind you it'd be worth hijacking the deal just to steer them back to Sancho...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,952 ✭✭✭54and56

You don't know whether Spurs have made a bid or not, you just haven't seen it reported, doesn't mean they haven't or won't.

Also, please link to where Mbeumo says he "only want's united" and if you think a 31 year old midfielder is as important a recruit to United (who already have Casemiro, Mount, Ugarte, Bruno & Mainoo etc) as a 25 year old forward that explains a lot about the opinions you express here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,066 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

I'd quite happily say that a midfielder is more important to United than yet another number 10.

A striker and a midfielder should be the priorities, yet here we are patiently taking weeks to spend our budget on Bruno and Amads best position.

I don't be pulling this **** out of my ass, it's not hard to find this stuff.

Show me where I said Norgaard would be important to us? I said he's important to Brentford....Club captain....One of their best players....

I'm gonna end the silly back and forth here after your last sentence.

Of course you would know if they made a bid or not. How do you think everyone knows about our bid for BM or Cuhna at the time for that matter.

It's literally Ornstein & Romanos bread and butter this time of year. If a bid was made they'd know and tweet it.

Your coming off a bit harsh.

looking at the below stats, player A is bought for £55.5m. what should player B be worth?

player B has engaged in problematic behavior.

player B has achieved the below in a league many deem more difficult.

    Screenshot 2025-06-29 032332.png

    wages are also a factor.

(all stats are in the league)

Gittens and Garnacho? From what I've read the club want 70m for Garnacho but other clubs know we need sales and Garnacho's history of petulance mean we'll be lucky go get 50m.

Crap was hoping they'd take up the option.

Read somewhere during the week the club has been actively looking for a club to take him but no-one interested so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,814 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Unless there's an option to extend his contract he can walk on a free next summer. Can't see clubs being that interested unless we're giving him away dirt cheap.

    Good luck kid

Just sums up UTD transfers under ETH.

I don't think there's been any UTD manager in the PL era to have such an awful record for transfers than ETH

    It's been truly truly awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭kyleman

13 million for a 20 year old left back is hardly a stick to beat ETH with.
