The ballcock on an old valve snapped off inside the cistern recently.

I say 'old' because it was stuck to the arm of it - not screwed in like the newer models.

I realised this after I bought the ballcock - a new one that screws one.

But now I can't hook up the new one to the float valve. I've tried cable ties but just made a mess. I don't think there's enough weight on the arm to lift it to stop the water flow so the cistern never stops filling.

Can any plumbing gurus help out!
