I must say Ive completely done an 180 on Leona. Ive followed her in Irish Opens, Womens British Opens (as they call it), Solheim Cups & Olympics. Been there, watched her, supported her in all of them. But… shades on… in her bubble, she's an impossible watch. She literally gives nothing back.

I gather that off the field she's quite engaging (although one horse who used to have a great podcast once told me of her lack of co-operation in being a guest), She certainly was personable etc on the Late Late a few years ago also.

But..but -blocks her tracker on twitter (& I have no connection with that a/c btw apart from feeling sympathy for whoever dedicates their life to updating us on her progress yet is blocked by her!!).

Now compared to the personalites & simply nice engaging people up& coming on the LET -Lauren Walsh, Sara Byrne, Anna Foster etc and wannabe Pros Beth Coulter & Aine Donegan -the future is bright.

    But without Leona.

Best of luck to her…but please warm up Leona & engage with golf fans.

    Interest in your thoughts folks!

Decent showing so far from Leona. Needs Min Jin Lee to have a meltdown to get a win but has a great chance of a high finish. T5 atm.

Having a mare unfortunately....not even in the top 20 as of now.

Back inside the top 20 now

Not birdie any of the 4 par fives…her lack of length really tells against her here.

After 4 missed cuts though a top 20 in a major has to count as progress

I don’t think it’s meant to be a snub to anyone. But she’s a very introverted character, so therefore its not natural for her to be engaging or interacting with anyone with the showbiz smile on her face. That’s not something than can be coached out of someone easily.

I’ve met her, and her sister on a good few occasions down through the years, and they’re both very pleasant respectable individuals.

I think the only one on tour that smiles less than Leona is Nellie Korda.

It's just her personality and she's not hurting or abusing anyone. Not everyone is smiley and cheerful all day. If she was a man I don't think this even gets brought up in conversation.

Tiger wasn't exactly Mr personality during rounds. Yet he was considered focused and in the zone. Yes it helps if you're GOAT material but the point is still the same.

She's tied for 2nd in the team event after R1. Hopefully she can keep something going for the weekend.

This is live on Sky Sports+. Maguire just birdied the 11th to give them a 1 shot lead.

Sister Lisa is on the bag this week. No idea if this is permanent or a once off. However Lisa did just graduate from UCC with a degree in dentistry.

In the clubhouse with a 2 shot lead. Fourball score of -10 is the best of the day so far.
Maguire did a lot of the heavy lifting after the tv coverage started. 5 birdies in 9 holes, none for Kupcho over those holes.

She even threw in a couple of smiles to keep everybody here happy.

She was 7 under today on her own ball. Seems to have discovered something the last few weeks to pull her out of the doldrums.

I always got the feeling they didn't like each others company, no idea where I got that from, but Im obviously off the mark

Though if you look at the scorecard it was completely equal over the round, 6 holes each where they had the better score and 6 equal scores. Good to see a bit of form emerging for Leona, it'd be great if they won this. Definite needle between them in the Solheim Cup, but they're obviously on great terms now.

Individual scores for the 4 ball are a mess on the LPGA app, no clue who scored what. Team scores are right, individual ones make no sense.

Big reversal today. +3 after 13. Down to 6th. Kupcho tee shots not helping.

3 minutes between the last two sky ad breaks.

Disappointing final round but a decent week for Leona.

They showed some grit with birdies on the last 2, in the mix for tomorrow.

The on-screen graphic when the players finished their round showed Round 1, Round 2 and Final Round. Led me to think it was a 54 hole tournament. Obviously they made a mistake.

Going to the Irish Open tomorrow at Carton House. Any thoughts on best holes from a spectators point of view?

Leona has totally lost her sparkle. Shocking tournament for her -finishing 48 th.

Last round birdie-free zone -only one other managed this feat. Then -the par 5s . Played 20 par 5s -net one under. …one over for the last ten of them.

Hard to know what's in store. She's winning very little money -sponsors must be getting restive. Can she somehow rekindle a spark ?

Just had a hole in one and leader on course -5(11)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,147 ✭✭✭paulos53

Hopefully is not an error on the leaderboard but it says that Leona just had a hole in one on the 2nd hole (her 11th) of the Evian. That gives a 2 shot lead on -5

Didn't she shoot very low 60s a few years ago on that course to finish 2nd/3rd maybe ? Must fit her eye.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,147 ✭✭✭paulos53

Leader in the clubhouse on -6. A great round after starting with a bogey.
-2 for the par 3s, -2 for the par 4s and -2 for the par 5s.

Level par for the day today, just missed a tiddler for par on 16, but still in the mix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,883 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Her first 3 putt of the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,883 ✭✭✭Speak Now

    Bounce back birdie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 794 ✭✭✭mjsc1970

Then bogey 18. Finished par for the day. Looked like she grinded for that the whole day so she hung on in there.

Just noticed she had no birdie out of the 4 par fives today.

    Then I saw some stats . Top three on leaderboard -driving distance . 270, 267 254. Maguire = 225 !
