According to this description the plane will depart Shannon (before lunch ?) on Friday, June 27th:

    A Journey Through Ireland’s Rich Aviation History: Foynes & Shannon. June 25 - 27, 2025
The last stop on this epic journey on this side of the Atlantic is Shannon, Ireland, located near Foynes, the historic base for Pan Am's flying boats on the Transatlantic Northern route. Upon arrival, transfer to Adare Manor, one of Ireland's finest 5-star hotels, set in the scenic village of Adare…

Visit the Rock of Cashel with pub lunch, and later journey to Foynes, where you'll visit the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum. The museum features a full-size replica of the B314 Flying Boat, used by Pan Am for transatlantic flights. Step aboard the Pan Am Clipper replica and experience the early days of aviation. Foynes is also the birthplace of Irish Coffee, created to revive weary Pan Am pilots, a delicious reminder of the region's connection to aviation history.

Enjoy a unique dinner at the museum, where you’ll dine surrounded by historical exhibits. The following day [Friday, June 27th], transfer to Shannon Airport for your final Pan Am flight back to New York, where you’ll enjoy a legendary Pan Am lunch in the sky, bringing your unforgettable journey full circle.

    Adare Manor - 2 nights

"Trump is about 1500km's directly W of Galway just now, link below. Looks like he may pass overhead."

Should he not have been asked to go around as many would consider him to be a WMD?

Is claiming that Irish coffee was invented for pilots not passengers a new layer to add to the mythology?

It does contain alcohol, after all…

I looed up this tour when it was announced. I think it was 7500 per person

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 540 ✭✭✭HorseSea

I think you left off a nought! It's $60,000 per person double occupancy or $65,000 single occupancy!!!! Amazed there are enough people that interested in this to spend that much money to make it worth while. Wow.

LLooks Like my memory is dodgy, I must have seen 75000!

I looked it up months ago when ai first read about it.

I had always understood that it was to help wake the passenger up after arrival.

I think 'Flight of the Iolar' covered it.

But who really knows what went on back then!!!!

The vodka & Red Bull of its time

    Y'know, a trip like that on a private all-business 757 wouldn't be a bad time[*]

Kind of like a faster, higher altitude eqivalent of a luxury cruise. They seem to know their market anyway.

[*] apart from being stuck with a planeload of rich Yanks of course 😁

Somebody being dropped off for the derby apparently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,637 ✭✭✭daymobrew

The plane departed around 16:30 (back to Dubai presumably) and is expected to return to pick up the rich dude after the horse derby.

    Here it is landing.

And there's me cycling everywhere to reduce my carbon footprint which this dude is on a whole 747 for himself. FFS.

I saw pics on Facebook from Malcom Nason. The spotters at Shannon to catch the Yankee Clipper departing were also treated to not 1 but 2 A340s. Lufthansa LAX-FRA (A343 D-AIGO) diverted in and Aviation Cargo (A346 G-ECLN) doing training flights.

These 2 Antonovs passed each other last week, due to clouds I could only hear them.

    Cheers for that.

This morning's EI105 Dublin to JFK has returned safely to Dublin shortly after takeoff. Reason unclear but PAN PAN declared. Both engines were confirmed as running after landing to ATC, and the equipment was rolled as a precaution. Aircraft now back on stand.

*** Edit: @shauns_aviation claims cause was bird strike

East to West survey of some kind (presumably ) in North Kildare/Central Dublin by EI-HPF going on at 7000 feet in the southern approach to Dublin 10L is creating some interesting routing of approachs at the moment.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Anyone been watching the Oshkosh (EAA) air show. Its like total organized chaos. Little or no coms from pilots, most arriving light aircraft are identified by rocking wings! at Fisk approach. Seven days of afternoon/evening air shows. Using a taxi way parallel to main runway as a extra temporary runway! Plenty of feeds on Live atc (KOSH) also

    live webcams

    https://www.eaa.org/airventure

Ive been glued to this for last couple days. Some really old planes on display

Did anyone catch the 4 "classic" aircraft that arrived to Cork airport this afternoon between 2:45 and 3:30 PM today from Northern France (3 from Le Havre, 1 from Caen Carpiquet)? They were blocked on FR24, but showing up fine on ADSB Exchange. Regs were:

    N431HM - Douglas DC3
    N232CM - Beech 18
    N21FS - Beech 18
    N184KP - Beech 18

They are owned by Plane Fun Inc (Georgia, USA).

I'd like to see them fly but I've no idea when they'll be departing Cork.
