    Hi Folks,

Random question - I am doing my last check on my Eddi to see if I have an Eddi or immersion problem (running in bypass with a cold (ISH) tank). Separately we were getting our boiler serviced yesterday and asked the plumber about changing out the immersion element if needed - because of the Eddi he didn't want to touch it. I presume it's the same job but that the eddi has replaced the switch? Can any plumber do it, is there anything special required?

In D11 if that makes a difference or if anyone knows a plumber in the area familiar with Eddi's,

    Thanks in advance

The EDDI has nothing to do with your immersion element, don't know why a plumber would say he did not want to touch it unless an excuse to a job he just doesn't want to do - time to drain water etc etc

He had no issue with the job on the phone up until he saw the Eddi. He's an old school plumber, but a good one - but had no familiarity with an Eddi.

So all he has to do is isolate the power to the immersion via the plated power point and then change out the immersion?

He needs to think of the Eddi as a wall-switch and just isolate it out and do what testing/swapping he needs to.

You might be as well off getting a spark to disconnect and reconnect after the plumber is finished. Some sparks will actually change an immersion element for you too.

Eddi is just a switch though, so no reason for your plumber to be afraid of it.

    Or if he's really old-school - tell him it's a like a variac!

Better off getting a sparks to check them immersion element, rather than just replacing it. They'll be able to test it a lot better than a plumber can. As mentioned already, some sparks will be able to change it for you, if that's what's needed.
