    Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone with experience of primary schools could guide me through this process. I am looking to move to Grangepark in Dublin 5 soon - happy with the place and fits what we are looking for.

My question is around primary schools, we have a young child who we need to sign up for school and what is the story with catchment areas? I am very confused by this in terms of the distinction between Grangepark/raheny/Kilbarrack-Foxfield/Edenmore.

If my understanding is correct you are not going to get a place in a school outside your catchment area due to oversubscription? Which makes sense, but I just wanted to check if anyone has experience of grange park specifically, as it is quite a small area - does that mean that everyone there goes to the same school? Or will it also be oversubscribed and likely we have to find a place somewhere else in the city?

Sorry if this is very long and rambling, but we are quite confused and if anyone was able to clarify or give their experience that would be great.

If anyone has any other insights that would be great. We are familiar enough with the story around Grange park area, but if anyone has any other insights what its like to live and raise a family there much appreciated!

I live in Grange Park and have lived here all my life. It's part of Raheny, despite its nearness to the Kilbarrack dart station (very handy).

I was walking past the primary school recently and was surprised that there were quite a few kids in the playground but I doubt it's near to being oversubscribed. Same for the De La Salle secondary school.

It's a quiet estate now that all the first generation kids have grown up and mostly moved out, but there are a few young families as well. Lovely to walk the dog around in the evenings. A very safe area with a nice mix of people living there.
