    2. Israeli operatives launched it to allow Israel bomb some more

Amusingly, the terrorist state seems to forget that it was they and Netanyahu who unilaterally breached the ceasefire in Gaza in mid-March, not Hamas.

My money is on Israel orchestrating a break in the ceasefire. It’s crib they’re inducing in Gaza and the ceasefire suits Iran. The ceasefire shuts the Israeli exhibit fit sure but they recover faster plus Bibibneeds to be at war. Like I says previously, if an Israeli told me the sun was shining, I’d just go and check myself because you can’t trust them.

You talk about Iran like they are your fav football team. Big bad Sharia law terrorist state humiliated in front of the world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,104 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Iran is definitely a terrorist state and responsible for much illegal activity and sponsoring acts of terror in the region. But Israel is easily the biggest terrorist state in the Middle East and main threat to peace and stability in the area - not to mention its full blown genocide of civilians in Gaza.

Iran supports and finances terrorist groups across the region, and is by far the biggest threat to peace in the Middle East.

It has stood alone in this war, because not a single other State in the region is prepared to offer any backing to the Ayatollahs. Even Qatar has written to the UN complaining about Iran.

That is without considering the repression of its own people, its horrific treatment of women.

Your hatred of Israel is preventing you from seeing the realities.

Still banging the women drum! The slaughtered women of Gaza, the limbless girls, the starving babies I'm sure would appreciate your condemnation of Iran but be a bit perplexed at your myopia when it comes to Israel and their terrorist supporting ally in the US.

Take it to the Hamas thread, I am not discussing Gaza here. This thread is about the conflict between Iran and Israel.

All you can do is whatabout Gaza in response to the Iranian law allowing men to rape women with the defence that she wasn't wearing her veil.

Systematic routine long-term oppression of women is what the Iranian regime is all about.

    Their treatment of women and minorities does not somehow absolve Israels actions. Both regimes are awful, both have funded terrorist organisations to their own end. The real concern here is;

    1. Netanyahu and co. started this war purely for cynical reasons and to draw attention away from Gaza and to save their asses domestically
    2. Israel have continued to break diplomatic norms with impunity, in fact with explicit support from the west
    3. Iran are largely useless, however, continued attacks could eventually result in an increase of terror attacks across the west
    4. If a power vacuum occurs in Iran, then you have a very well armed Taliban to the east with the potential destabilisation of the region, based solely on the Israelis government wanting a distraction
    5. The US could very easily get sucked into a ground war with this

One that I largely don't care about but I'm sure bothers some is the fact that China will have an opportunity to increase influence in the region. Possibly ousting Russian influence, as the Russians have been proven to fall short of expectation too.

One thing I've noticed about the news coverage of all this is all the grandstanding of how the US is unmatched, militarily exceptional and whatever else. Completely ignoring the spectre of Chinese expansion, where in my opinion, should the two end up in a war, China is a completely different animal to Russia and Iran. If Iran start getting Chinese weapons in exchange for energy guarantees, then what? If Israel continues to bomb Iran and has a significant impact on their energy output, what will the Chinese response be?

It's not as simple as "bUt ThEy FuNd TeRrOrIsTs! ThE wImMiN!"

Just because there's a war, doesn't mean theres a good guy.

Both states would be high on any list of states where human rights abuse exist.

It can't be a huge surprise that two malignant regimes that openly hate each other would eventually find themselves in a conflict.

Applauding one over the other is a fools errand at best, or worse, belligerent ignorance.

The portrayal on these pages of Iran as some innocent victim of nasty Israel is disgusting.

I agree with you about China. China is the biggest winner of all this. If there is regime change in Iran, I expect a new regime to develop extensive closer relationships with China. Oil for infrastructure and economic growth.

A new Iran won't necessarily open to the world but it would open to China. Targetting the rising Chinese middle income groups for tourism is one way of earning foreign currency.

Would you agree that Iran and Israel are both bad actors in the region? Iran have certainly sponsored terrorism, there is no denying that and they are a rogue state with a repressive regime based on religious nonsense. But Israel is also creating the environment for future terrorists by the ethnic cleansing of Gaza and annexing land.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,623 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

Of course Israel is a bad actor in the region, I can't think of any good actors in the region.

The mess of Syria, the Taliban, the slave regimes of the UAE, Saudi and the Emirates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

Incorrect. Iran is also sponsoring acts of terror in Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

Whilst I agree with this even if Israel sat on their hands the Middle East would still be an environment for future terrorists. A fantasy to think otherwise.

Donald Trump says both Israel and Iran have violated the ceasefire in the Middle East, Reuters reports.

He adds that Iran's nuclear capacities are "gone" and says Tehran will never rebuild its nuclear programme.

Trump says he's "not happy" with Israel and Iran, before adding he is "really unhappy" with Israel.

None of which was any part of the pretext of Israel and America's attack.

The reason for that, of course, is that both of those countries regularly "drop off" their own "financial aid" packages to their proxies and puppets too. Israel bankrolled HAMAS themselves and considered them valuable. To quote Bazalel Smotrich, "The Palestinian Authority is a burden, and Hamas is an asset".

So instead they focus on the lie about Iran's nuclear capability, saying that they were just months away from building a weapon. Something which is ludicrous but will frighten the stupid people and allow other liars a falsehood to repeat ad nauseam.

It's the WMD lie for a new audience.
