Moving from VM to Eir

So what the title says; I'm moving from VM to Eir.

Currently I'm under VM contract until September; will cancel on July.

Eir said that they'll be offering to cover early cessation fees up to 250 Euro.

Anyone had any issues with this process or is as straightforward as they say?

Had the sales rep told me this works; same as the support team from their website.

On the other end I just went horrified as the VM operator in charge of cancellations just terrified me with "Oh, you're moving to Eir? Good luck"…

    Any help appreciated :)

I haven’t gotten the cancellation charges covered by eir myself but they are doing it a good while and has been mentioned to me a good few times in the past, I did think it was only up to €200 though. It’s issued as a credit added to your eir account for future bills AFAIK. The Virgin Media cancellation is €150 AFAIK.

You need to send proof of the charge and I think maybe proof of it haven been paid.

I wouldn’t take notice of the comments by the cancellations agent, this practice of slagging each other happens in lots of ISPs.

Is it FTTP with eir you are going for?

Thank you. Yeah I agree with you. Its just the convo against competitors but still the agent was very unprofessional....

Yes, I'm going with their FTTP service. Its a good price for what they're offering. VM cant even offer the same deal and I've been loyal to them for a while. Time to try new things!

I personally would not bother with cancelling if still in contract. There is the potential for a challenge getting the charges covered by Eir. It's only a few months, if your VM service is working fine - stick with that until end of contract.

I guess I'll keep pushing the installation date until.the contract ends or until last month at least
