Joyce tends to play up injuries to key players in post match interviews and wants to set the narrative that he's out for next week in hope of trying to get him fit.

Hope we don't make mistake Kerry did with diarmud o Connor yesterday starting him after he supposed be out with long term shoulder injury. Cavan player nailed him with shoulder after a minute and he was gone for rest of game. Cavan did same with tTyrones Michael Mc kernan week before after 3 mins and he had be carried off with shoulder gone. Of we draw Tyrone or Monaghan they will surely test him out if he starts. We be as well to start him and hope for best rather than being him on and have use 2 subs if he's goosed 5 mins after coming on

Why is it negative to point out how futile it is playing an injured player. Maybe it should be like North Korea where we only every praise the efforts of the team and management.

Whatever about leaving him on till halftime, to send him out again, clearly in pain when you had a 10pt lead and effectively play the 2nd half with 14 men was idiotic. Especially when 2pointers into the wind were pretty much out of the equation.

Joyce been ruthless in taking him and other lads off who lot more involved in play than Walsh in that 2nd half. He didn't even come looking for the ball and other Galway lads there knew he wasn't an option. Should have brought Cooke on for him even and play someone else inside. Joyce said comer trained this week if he's to be believed and with another week under his belt we will surely get 20 mins out of him this weekend as could we'll need him.

Think some context is needed. Yes Flaherty had a 10 minute wobble where nothing went right but it's next near impossible dominate kickouts with the new rules. As you can see from Dublin vs Armagh and "two of the best keepers in the game" there stats aren't a lot better. It's the modern game. He was 7/10 in the first half and that was deemed "poor" here......

He was under serious pressure. Gleeson was standing on the halfway line togged to come (Flaherty saw this, as, at one stage for a kickout he was looking at the line almost walking over expecting the board to go up. Another Management decision I wasn't fond of). Ref was on his back (unfairly and didn't even know the rule). Yet with all that going on he recovered brilliantly. Kickouts last 10-15 minutes turned the tide. Couple out to D'Arcy stand side were phenomenal.

Hope Flaherty keeps his spot. He's always looking for the options (they dried up dramatically yesterday) and if a short or mid range dink is on, he'll back himself to nail it.

Gleeson only has the long range in his locker. Least we forget he spent the Dublin game kicking it out to lads in blue and much like Flaherty had a 15 minute spell against Derry where they destroyed us.

Flaherty has more variation in his game and watching him had the confidence to kick off his left or right will keep teams guessing.

Also one wide in a game of football is ridiculous 😀

Nice, got exactly what I hoped for. Let's hope we don't bottle this favourable draw!

Brilliant (no offense to Meath intended).

    We should win.

Best we could have asked for but they're similar to Down. Athletic with good kickers. We need to sort out the centre of our defence. If we leave it that open in Croke Park we're going to get punished. Their weakness is their back 6.

Can't see RTE not having Armagh v Kerry as the main game on Sunday at 4pm.

Surely they will give the 2 teams who played yesterday the break until Sunday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,888 ✭✭✭Robson99

I would agree. He had a 15 min wobble where he was unlucky with a couple of the kicks and then the Ref harshly penalised him for delaying one [ if Gleeson was in goals he would have been done as well as Ref was very much crowd influnced with his SH decisions]. Raferty had a 15 min meltdown against us in SH, McGeeney wasnt looking to replace him, Cluxton an absolute shocker against Meath, Patton , Morgan, Beggan all have there 10 -15 min periods in these new rules games where things just dont go their way. Keepers now have the guts of 30 kick outs in a game where the new rules were meant to have most kick outs a 50 50 contest. Did Gleeson deserve to be dropped., probably not. Same for Flaherty now. Best give him another game and give him some more confidence. Cant keep chopping and changing

Go straight out and do the lotto! Some prediction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,295 ✭✭✭threeball

I'm sure the GAA would quite like to keep that one to themselves. It'll be a nice little earner on GAA go. On day passes alone it could pull in half a million.

Will be another free for all might need a few goals again.

I think our forwards will relish Croke though.

Comer warmed up for a good while yesterday he must be somewhat fit, I think he'll probably start.

Mattie Tierney seems to have loss his form entirely in the last two games. He never goes well when Walsh delivers. A fierce shame too because Tierney has all the tools.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,295 ✭✭✭threeball

I hope they have enough sense to try and sort out the defense. We may get over Saturday but we won't get any further with our current set up. Meath is our last chance to try to get a structure.

I wouldnt start Comer . It would suit better to have him coming in on a tired defender at 50mins or so. Difficult to deal with a fresh explosive player with 50mins in your legs.

Having to play Saturday is pretty unfair on Galway. All other teams getting the full 7 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,888 ✭✭✭Robson99

Agrteed. Galway & Donegal should have been on Sunday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,413 ✭✭✭h2005

Not confirmed for Saturday yet, but its very unfair on players. Just because authorities are scared of Gaa + criticism.

Can't see Kerry and Dublin on the same double-bill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 824 ✭✭✭Stewball

I think it could end up

Saturday - Donegal v Monaghan, Tyrone v Dublin

Sunday - Meath v Galway, Armagh v Kerry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭snowgal

think we'll get sat first game….4pm maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,407 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

I think the same but they could easily do 5pm for Meath and 7pm for the Dubs/Tyrone.

    Saturday June 28

    16:00 - Donegal v Monaghan

    18:15 - Dublin V Tyrone

    Sunday June 29

    13:45 - Galway v Meath

    16:00 - Armagh V Kerry

Thats good for the players and recovery. Interesting second game too if in the mood to hang around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 824 ✭✭✭Stewball

Great we got a Sunday game, but it's not fair on Donegal only getting a 6 day turnaround.

I'd be fuming if we had that.

Jim Mc Guinness will be doing some whinging to the Gaa cause of this.
