Stats wise there isn't much between them, martinez has basically no impact on Xg.

But I find the types of issues onana causes are poorly tracked by stats.

This is why our sales will be tough, the players won't just go anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

We need to start outscoring the opposition in games. That's our biggest weakness, we only come alive when we went behind in a lot of the games last season.

Get in a no.9 first before looking to replace Onana.

    Hmmm.

Are you saying Martinez is not also a top class keeper? Martinez coming off two recent world best keeper awards and winning a world cup is probably better than VDS was when United signed him. And 2 years younger. VDS had been a big signing for Juve, but that didnt work out and they went after Buffon to replace him.

VDS made it known that he wanted to play in England and it was only Fulham who matched the £7m asking price. Fulham made a loss on him when Ferguson correctly noted that this was a keeper who could excel at a big club. Easy for people to say in hindsight that VDS was top class, but that’s taking the genius of Ferguson, and his ability to spot value regardless of age, for granted.

Nor should they, they're not indentured slaves. Just like the rest of us they are free to choose where they want to live and who they want to work for.

I know but fans are getting annoyed by our transfer dealings already, this is why I keep saying patience is needed.

Woodward would be offering crazy money and wages to fill the team with Hollywood signings to appease fans. It's been a bit brainwashing in a way how it went on.

INEOS is no way perfect but credit needs to be given, with Ruben as well. They see the players that don't bring the right culture and publicly said to them your out. That's something me as a fan anyway has been craving. That's how Fergie would of done it, but it wasn't a heavy social media age then as it is now.

Woodward set this club back years with his transfer dealings and glazers not giving a **** giving him the license to do it.

Cuhna in, Mbeumo on the way and a Striker would be an ideal transfer of comings in and I'd be delighted.

The sale of Rashford, Sancho, Garna and Antony and we'd call that an excellent transfer window and one we all want.

We might have to commit against PSR, which is a risk so we can get a striker in. Would have to level it out and start to see the sales, other clubs can wait for Garna, Antony etc, where we want the 9 in asap.

It's clear that it will take us a few windows to both clear out the players we need to and get in the players we need.

Realistically, Rashford and Sancho are going to be extremely difficult to shift. They are on crazy wages and seem to have completely unrealistic expectations on where they will actually end up. Rashford is going to wait until deadline day for Barca so I can easily see him getting a last minute ute loan deal again. Sancho will probably wind down his contract with us and then move on a free next year. Antony wants to move to Betis but they haven't a pot to piss in. Garnacho seemingly wants to stay in the PL, unfortunately for the club nobody in the PL wants him.

I don't think we get the deals for players leaving that many think. We'll be lucky to break even with most of them

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Agree, can totally understand Antony wanting to stay at Betis and to be fair he put in a fantastic shift and did really well so he's earned some credit in that regard.

He's proven himself to have value and was obviously happy there which helped his game. It's a different story if he was sitting on the bench all the time or not putting in a shift.

Sanchos contract is up next year, criminal what he was given. We've had absolutely nothing out of that transfer.

Rashford's contract is out of this world as well. 250k a week until 2038 I think it is. Absolute bonkers

Feckin phone, I wouldn't mind but I had 3038 at first and thought I corrected both 😆

These days the "players" a club has off the pitch can have just as big an impact on success or failure as a player on the pitch. Giving mental contracts to the likes of Antony, Casemiro, Donny van de Beek, Maguire, Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Onana, Mount, Sancho etc hamstrings the club to such an extent its is the equivalent of scoring an own goal in every single match for every season they are on contract.

sancho asking for too much for napoli's liking:

Giovanni Manna (Napoli’s sporting director) on Jadon Sancho:

“Our offer is clear, we will not pay Sancho’s requested salary.”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,015 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Such greed, he's wanted by big teams who will challenge for their respective leagues and have CL spot but yet money comes first for Sancho.

It was an awful awful signing from day 1 (I wish the search feature worked because I called it well)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,836 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

And then there's Antony who supposedly will take a paycut to get the move that he wants, and he's on what half of what Sancho gets.

Fenerbache are interested in Sancho and are throwing money at players, he'll get his salary there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,015 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

For someone so talented, it’s not surprising the lack of respect by Garnacho over and over again.

These players Sancho, Rashford and Garnacho are rotting the club from the inside. If they're not gone by start of the season it will be a huge headache for RA

The more reason I'm backing Amorim, he's called all these players out and they are showing up their true colours. Cya lads, no one is going to miss you.

Sancho's greed and Rashfords delusions of grandeur will make both practically immovable until the deadline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

With them I think the club will have learned massive lessons now regarding contracts and player profile.

Whatever about Rashford, Utd looked at Sancho for 2 seasons and couldn't see the obvious before they signed him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The Rooster

Is that definitely Garnacho in the Villa/Rashford jersey? I thought this was just a wind up as it does not look like him to me, but the whole internet is saying it is, so maybe i’m just being thick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Also may not be him, different twitter account to the picture. I'm not on twitter so can't say either way.

If it's not him, it still doesn't excuse the disrespect that's he's shown to the club since seasons end.

Jesus just seen the start for us and it will be monstrous, got a feeling though it’s a great season incoming and without Europe - it’s a chance to come back to where we belong and playing the best the season after in the CL.

Manager of course will have the focus of the fans on him and his honeymoon period is now over.

The first 5 is tough but someone said something about ‘no excuses as we have no European football’. We will have an extra Carabao Cup game around the same time the first CL game happens, so that’s not a justification to expect better results from the first 5. I hope people know that. There is one CL game around the time of the first 5 league games, when we will be playing an extra game anyway.
