They were always going to do it. He is an Israeli asset. That's why they got him in there. This is his function — to have a war with Iran on behalf of Israel.

Nothing about this is positive, at all.

This will just heighten tensions even more. It’s dumb and dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

And you think there's zero chance of any enriched uranium having left all these nuclear facilities to be hidden elsewhere?

Also, if things turn out like Iraq with the birth of ISIS, well at least ISIS didn't have a **** tonne of nuclear material in Iraq to play about with.

Everything you have posted here shows you don't have the faintest understanding about any of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 447 ✭✭meepins

Tensions? They just dropped bombs on a country. Iran has to respond to this.

Some Republicans are already saying that Trumps actions are unconstitutional.

Hakeem Jeffries is probably drafting a 24hr monologue that no one will hear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

Why do you think this was done over the weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,980 ✭✭✭Homelander

There's only one way Iran can respond. Launching more ballistic missiles, which have already proven to be completely strategically useless, because Iran invested in them as a deterrance, believing war would never happen, while their air force and air defenses are completely useless.

The US already evacuated some bases to safeguard against that.

Israel hasn't lost a single jet in the war. What do you think Iran could possibly do to the US - a military 20x more powerful than even the Israeli military - that would result in anything meaningful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 447 ✭✭meepins

Again this is all laughable nonsense. No person who has even an inkling of the actual reality of the situation would take this assessment seriously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,923 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Exactly my point, sorry if my post wasn’t clear.

This is fuel on the fire.

It's a nightmare, I don't think most people fully understand how bad this is.

Take Israel out of the equation

That's pretty wishful thinking when discussing real life current affairs. Israel has attacked 5 countries in the last 18 months, their role in the desire for stronger defence can absolutely not be discounted.

There was a system in place to prevent Iran developing a Nuclear weapon. It was the Iran Nuclear agreement and it was functioning as intended until Trump pulled the US out of it for no other reason than because it was an agreement that Obama had signed and Trump was triggered by that.

And now here we are, Trump has bypassed all internal US processes to minimize conflict to attack another country. He owns every tiniest piece of this conflict, no matter how big it gets.

Are any of the three Nuclear sites attacked in Iran located very close to Azerbijian?

What's with the caps and this fcuking idiot?

    BOMBS.

    🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,980 ✭✭✭Homelander

Enligthen me then. What's the reality of the situation in terms of what Iran can do to respond?

I mean that sincerely. I'm all ears, and always have been.

I have no vested interest in Israel or the US, or Iran, but I am very interested in the objective facts of the situation.

I could be completely wrong, but it seems to me that you are completely unaware of the reality of the Iranian military situation. It has no air force. No real national air defense system.

I can't for the life of me think of how it's going to strike back at the US - a country with a military 20x as powerful - in any meaningful way.

It can't even handle the Israeli air force, which is a mere shadow of the US air force.

Can you expand on how you think this may escalate? I have my own thoughts bur genuinely just curious

@Homelander Iran may not be able to strike the US, but mentioned on SKY News they could hit US Embassy's or Military Sites in the area's near the middle east.

    Edit: -

The United States has maintained a military presence in the Middle East for decades, currently stationing between 40,000 and 50,000 troops across at least 19 sites.

    True, they could.

But that would be symbolic at best. We know the US has been evacuating in the past week to avoid casualties.

The truth is that Iran really can't do anything meaningful about the US strikes.

Reports coming out now: openings and exits were targeted at Fordow. No irreparable damage - that comes from the IRIB.

An official statement from Iran's Atomic Energy Agency is expected soon.

They were BIG BOMBS! The best BOMBS, BOMBS like nobody has even seen, and I know all about BOMBS. Arnold Palmer once told me "you have the biggest bombs" and Arnold Palmer knew all about big. He was all man Arnold Palmer…

    Iran State TV.

The same Iran State TV that said it had complete air control over Israel and it had shot down multiple F35s.

The same State TV that said last October that it had defeated Israel's attack even though we now know said attack destroyed its air defense systems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 447 ✭✭meepins

Not that I think anything about what you think has happened so far. However that's why I included where the information came from. I understand you are very excited by this but calm down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,980 ✭✭✭Homelander

Not excited. I don't consider state TV of any radical fundamentalist state worthy of posting.

Trump had said in his short address to the nation that the US airstrikes '' Completely & Totally Obolerated Iranian Nuclear sites''. He also said the US Military used Bunker Buster bombs to attack these sites. He then told Iran to make peace or future attacks will be coming.

Is that statement from Trump contradicts to what was reported from the Iranian authorities within the last hour?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,087 ✭✭✭corkie

    Trump's 3am speech:-

A short time ago, the U.S. military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities of the Iranian regime, Fordow, Netanz, and Esfahan. Everybody heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise. Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror. Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier. For 40 years, Iran has been saying, death to America, death to Israel. They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs with roadside bombs. That was their specialty. We lost over a thousand people and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate. In particular, so many were killed by their general, Qasem Soleimani. I decided a long time ago that I would not let this happen. It will not continue. I want to thank and congratulate Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. We worked as a team, like perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we’ve gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel. I want to thank the Israeli military for the wonderful job they’ve done. And most importantly, I want congratulate the great American patriots who flew those magnificent machines tonight, and all of the United States military on an operation the likes of which the world has not seen in many, many decades. Hopefully, we will no longer need their services in this capacity. I hope that’s so. I also want to congratulate the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, spectacular general, and all of the brilliant military minds involved in this attack. With all of that being said, this cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill. Most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes. There’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close. There has never been a military that could do what took place just a little while ago. Tomorrow, General Caine and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will have a press conference at 8 a.m. At the Pentagon. And I want to just thank everybody, in particular, God, I want to just say we love you, God. And we love our great military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East. God bless Israel. And God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you.

They can cause utter mayhem to the global economy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,980 ✭✭✭Homelander

Well that point is true. Don't deny that. But how long they could keep that control is a different matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 818 ✭✭✭Fuascailteoir

They just need to do that periodically and the wheels fall off the economy
