Hi, are you given an exact topic, or a choice? Many thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 18,339 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

You pretty much get to choose the dept, topic and what area to focus on (there's more specifics but I won't disclose that as probably a big no no)

Have received my interview date and presentation topic. It's probably been mentioned previously haven't read the whole thread back but just noticed it's different to the 2022 competition only 5min presentation as opposed to 10mins in 2022 and no PowerPoint allowed. I'm Tipperary panel for those keeping track and it's confirmed as batch 4.

out of curiosity are you assigned a specific “this is your topic write only about this” or is it broader based on the whole 2030 renewal business

    Whoops sorry just seen this

For anyone that's done the project proposal for the interview (and still reading here) how many words did you end up with - I'm not sure how detailed this should be - x pages with this font size is not very precise, could be a 1000 words to 5000 words

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 201 ✭✭Lynnington3

Just you stick to the 3 pages , and font size , spacing detailed , the number of words won’t matter

Problem with people talking about a different competition on the wrong thread is people start confusing it with the competition in the title

Hi, I have been offered a post aligned to HEO with the CCPC. I am an existing Civil Servant working for a Government Dept for over 10 years; Are the CCPC employees considered Civil Servants too? Will I retain the same employment and pension conditions if I take the position? Is there anything I should look out for?

    They would be public service

    You will lose mobility

You should retain your service and rate of pay etc.. They are transferable between public and civil service. You will need to check out your current pension. Will it be preserved or also transferrable. If you are paying into an AVC and decide to make the move you will need to contact the 3rd party deduction company. Or if buying a notional service it most likely won't be transferable so get advice. Anything pension related it's always best to get advice from a pension expert.

    Check out annual leave entitlement.

And as advised to will lose mobility option but if you feel the role is right for you, you'll make the right decision.

Read the contract and compare it to your current terms and conditions to see if any other differences.

Best of luck with whatever decision you make

I was number 5 after Stage 1, I was placed as number 2, batch 2 after shortlisting and am now number 2 for batch 2 in Limerick. Batches seem small but hard to put a number on it

Has anyone that had the interview with the new capability framework any pointers for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 18,339 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Sent my pre interview project proposal there an hour or so ago - I must have rewrote it about 5 times (initial topic I abandoned after 2 drafts) - they say only spend 3-4 hours on it - yeah, not gonna happen!

Best thing to do is the same as the competencies - have examples of everything and if you can't draw on real world examples then have an example of how you would do it.

Repeat each area multiple times, speak it out, until it's second nature and get an AP or someone to listen and question your choices/decisions

At least this is what I have been told by higher ups and people in the same role, the capabilities make it easier as you don't need the experience but just the know-how based on other experiences

Response from PAS today re Dublin batches:

At present for Higher Executive Officer 2024, we have called forward up to and including the order of merit 173 (batch 3) for stage 3 (interview) for your chosen location Dublin.

I can confirm there is approximately 35 candidates left to be called in batch 3 before we begin to call candidates from batch 4.

Thanks for the info. I'm at the end of batch 3. Do you get a bit of notice (a week or two?) of the interview date when you receive the invite?
