hi I don’t have eir but set it up for my parents last year. They are very elderly and can’t figure out virgin or Rte player. She used to be able to rewind back on tv guide and hit watch on program she missed earlier but no option now. I see that there might be restrictions on Rte but not virgin. She can’t figure out the recording and was happy with the watch now option. It was working a week ago according to her but not now ….

RTE have blocked recording/replaying/rewinding shows on their channels on Eir TV (same on Sky Stream & Virgin Stream). It's greed to divert people to the RTE Player (and the ads!).

Nobody is happy about it. Complain to RTE: feedback@rte.ie.

Basically RTÉ are trying to force your elderly parents to use their ad-filled player rather than a simple TV service.

It's unfair on a lot of viewers, and makes what is public service tv less accessible.

Also, if you don't want to email they can call and leave feedback: (01) 2083434 (Information Office / Feedback)
