I found Matt funny today on Louise cantalons show. The problem is they will play the clip all day every day until I hate both of them.

Was she then on his show interviewing him and his wife?

Christ on a bike…that Gerard Butler interview was the cringiest thing I've ever heard in my life, Dave literally screaming "I LOVE YOU" at him. And of course, he's a "LEGEND."

What’s the story between Dave and ray foley and JP? I’m sensing they don’t get on??

Something said on the radio? I wasn't tuned in much yesterday

Don't think they ever interact or reference each other, even since Dermot and Dave days

An absolute shambles of a radio station ( stuck with it in work) Louise Cantillon will be on shortly with her, ceol agus craic, and what makes you go " Wo- hooo" on a Friday. Lord Jaysus.

Yeah I've often got the sense that Foley isn't particularly popular among some of his more established colleagues tbh. When he came back a couple of years ago I remember Iano doing a quick interview with him in advance of his first new show and it seemed like a bit of an awkward exchange, particularly when Ian is usually so easy going and chirpy. Maybe we're reading too much into it!

No, there's definitely something to the Dermot/Dave and Ray/JP thing. I vaguely remember Foley taking the mick out of D&D for being lowest common-denominator types of DJ's who talk about chicken-fillet rolls and Barrys v Lyons etc back in the day.

Then Foley ended up on 98fm where D&D were the station big-dogs in the afternoon. A short while after, they got the big move to Today FM. Foley was somewhat in the radio wilderness until the PD changed at Today FM and himself & JP were brought back.

    Professional rivalry I'd call it.

Yep Foley slagged D&D off on air a lot back in the day apparently Dermot had a big issue with him and it turned into a personal beef off air as well.

Dave I imagine being BFFs with Dermot is continuing that feud.

it’s obvious as they never interact or overlap at all with each other and Foley has interacted with both lunchtime and Breakfast shows before!

And off she goes, send in a voice note of what makes ya go " Woo- hooo" on a Friday. Lowest common denominator radio. Shocking stuff.

To be fair to Ray Foley, Dave on his own is absolutely lowest common denominator stuff, and I'm sure he's annoyed that Dave is the highest-rated show on the station.

I think the Dave show is a lot better without Dermot (and even at that it's not great), never took to him, even in the early 98fm days, still can't take to him at all and it bugs me the way he's on so often being interviewed and Dave never shuts up about him. Never found him the slightest bit funny or the two of them together funny, whereas Ray and JP are able to bounce off each other pretty well and I get the odd chuckle or laugh out loud from them.

The irony of someone with your username calling something "lowest common denominator" completely lost on you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 780 ✭✭✭Breaston Plants

    Get over yourself lad. Wo-hoooo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,413 ✭✭✭nc6000

I never really liked the Dermot & Dave show and definitely didn't like when it went to Dave on his own so switched to RTE Radio 1 and Oliver Callan. Guess who they have in to cover when Oliver is off? Dermot!

So sometimes the choice is to listen to Dermot or Dave. 😭

Anyone here on Instagram, I recommend giving Dara Quilty a follow. I really like his style on radio, he’s fast become one of my favourite presenters. I’ve often gotten the impression he’s a genuine “radio guy” with a passion for the industry, rather than one of the latest wave of influencers.

Anyway, he’s posted an interesting 5 minute video on his instagram today, just a bit of nerdy insight into what goes on behind the scenes in terms of fading songs into each other, splice jingle’s together, etc etc. I’d recommend watching it!

Seriously? That, from the muppet who thinks playing a sound effect 10 times in a row is somehow entertainment? Jaysus… pot, kettle! 🙄

Louise will be off next week I'd say after the Hurling this evening!

Get ready for 8 weeks of an Oasis song every hour, as Today FM try to desperately insert themselves into the centre of the narrative of the Oasis gigs in August.

As long as it's not just Whatever, which every station seemed to get on the cheap a year or so ago and flog it to a bitter death.

Interesting about Dave and Ray — never picked up on that before. I see on Instagram there that the two don’t follow each other, though, which could be further confirmation…

I also notice Ray putting up daily pre-show meeting videos with JP on Insta the last while. I wonder if there may be a podcast or something in the offing? Ray seems to be getting increasingly more vocally exasperated with the Today FM playlist these times, also, I seem to have noticed…

He said on air they don't have the time to start doing a podcast and all that goes with it

I'm old enough that the "Podblast" was my first ever podcast subscription.

    This too shall pass.

Ray's NTN Podcast was bloody brilliant. Miss their chemistry with Ann and Al.
