Is there anything wrong with growing a willow in a pot?

Found a willow seedling growing and put it in a pot. It's now about a meter high. I'm not sure of the type of willow but it looks like a pussy willow from an image search.

I've looked at some places online and a few places have outright declared that it's a terrible plant and to rip it up straight away. Is it that much of an issue? I have several other natives in pots (Scots Pine, Ash, Oak (Sessile)) and a few non natives (Horse Chestnut, Persian Silk) and I haven't seen the same vitriol against them.

i don't see an issue with growing it in a pot.

the negative sentiment you've seen probably relates to the context it's in; most people won't want a willow in a suburban garden (unless it's a grafted plant like a kilmarnock willow which will be limited by the rootstock), but if you have the space, there's nothing wrong with it.

There's some amount of willow seeds blowing around at the moment, that's probably why people don't like it as a plant, it will take over ground that's left unused
