Real feel of 'comical Ali' about this.

If anyone remembers him from the 2003 Iraq invasion, claiming they'd wiped out American forces and their were no Americans in Baghdad, while tanks literally rolling behind him.

Iranian media keeps claiming about a massive, huge counter attack and surprises.....but nothing happens. Seems a bit of that at play.

This has been evident for a while though. Think back to the other round of attacks between them. Iran did very little damage to the Israeli military yet talked as if they had inflicted great damage on them. When the reality is Israel decimated a lot of their air defense systems around key military sites

With that in mind , given that Fordow seems to be the only place that offers protection from Israeli strikes, you'd wonder why their military leaders who have been assassinated just didn't set up base there to begin with.

taking a leaf from trump book:

Iran’s senior army commander has called for residents of Haifa and Tel Aviv to evacuate immediately, Reuters reports, citing the semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr.

Iran has previously struck the two Israeli cities over the course of the five days of fighting that began Friday.

And some people say that Israel has no influence on US politics.

    :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,790 ✭✭✭saabsaab

Who says that? The mehr news agency is claiming 4 F35 aircraft shot down and that Pakistan indicated it will nuke Tel Aviv if Israel uses a nuclear weapon. Hard to believe.

An Iranian official said that. Pakistan has subsequently denied it. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said it was "fabricated" and "irresponsible".

more foreshadowing of whats to come if iran dont stop:

"Trump has been clear on Iran, US State Department says

Donald Trump has said that Iran can't have a nuclear weapon no fewer than a dozen times since taking office again in January, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce has just been telling a news briefing.

Going back further, she said Trump has said the same thing no fewer than 40 times as far back as 2011."

He's some clown. Can't keep his gob shut and needs to be centre of attention 24-7. Then you recall the lads under him chatting up a storm on signal with a US journalist invited no less, and 🙈

I am guessing from this tweet (post?) and some others that Trump/US admin. were deep in cahoots with Israel on planning and executing this war with Iran far beyond just supplying usual unlimited weapons re-ups for the IAF, hence Netanyahu's confidence in starting it + the US may join in directly soon.

Trump is very much a coward and would not risk joining in to a failing enterprise here or one with any risk for him at all, really.

It's quite terrifying the level of power to wreak destruction in the hands, of basically a stupid and evil geriatric man-child. That's enough for me of thinking about that for a few days!

    Just on this,

Irans latest strike was two ballistic missiles. Both intercepted.

Over 4000km away and Blanch can still find space for, 'but the Provos'.

Jesus Christ lad, change the record.

It's all over social media as well, all this fantasy about how Israel is crumbling, Israel cannot stop Iranian missiles, it's begging the US for aid because it's on the verge of defeat, Iran has outsmarted Israel, and other endless drivel.

I don't know how much of it is genuinely held opinion, and how much of it is part of misinformation campaigns, but it's really something.

All Israel need/want the US to do is drop those bunker busters on Fordow. It's pretty much the only thing they cannot do themselves, at least conventionally anyway and it's the one thing stopping them from being to declare a genuine mission accomplished.

Iran still claiming that Israel has seen nothing yet. Interesting strategy, cause minimal damage to Israel, allow the IAF to dominate your skies from 2000km away and wreck your defense network, allow panic to consume your capital city and heart of your economy, after half your senior leadership has been killed……all part of an elaborate ruse.

US foreign politics is scum of the earth stuff. The evil empire. And it's got nothing to do with Trump, they're all the same. Lies, hypocrisy, bombs and always ready for a good old atrocity. ***** make me sick.

How many times has this lie been repeated in one form or another "unprovoked" "out of the blue." The Ayatollahs of Iran have been waging a proxy war against Israel for a very long time. They've always wanted a fight, they just wanted to be clever and hide behind Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Houthis and others in their "axis of resistance" to kill Israelis and others with impunity.

Now the usual suspects - again - only have an issue when the Jewish state hits back - and again they have to make s**t up because the facts don't accord with the narrative.

Are you not sick of Iran's foreign policy? They poked and poked until the bear snapped at them and now they're showing themselves to have nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,080 ✭✭✭dmcdona

then Israel wouldn't be committing atrocities

Are you saying that Israel is being forced to starve 2 million Gazans to death? To murder 35,000 women and children? To commit Genocide?

I don't even think that was the excuse given 80 years ago.

Ironic that you're calling out someone for making "s**t" up.

And as ever, you conveniently forget the genesis of Hezbollah and that Israel has allowed funding of Hamas for years. Even built tunnels for them.

All the terrorists - the Israeli govt (with one alleged war criminal and one convicted terrorist), the Iranian regime, Hamas, Hezbollah and the jihadist whatever-you're- having-yourself nutters can all just naff off to a remote part of the world and just knock lumps out of each other until there's nothing left.

But you consistently support a terrorist regime that has so far killed upwards of 200,000 Palestinians, hundreds of their own civilians (Hannibal Directive) and is currently starving a population of 2 million to death. You'd undoubtedly be satisfied only when Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan and Lebanon are wastelands - just perfect for annexation.

Happened 80 years ago and it was as abhorrent then as it is now. Innocent civilians on all sides exactly that - innocent. But you continuously justify their extermination. Shame on you.

Seems like a bit of a strategic error on Iran's part, then. Israel has a long history of attacking Iran's nuclear programs, so Iran must have known that Israel would try to destroy their current effort in some way. If the facility is under a mountain, pretty much the only ways are infiltration (high risk) or the bunker buster bombs. Israel doesn't possess those bombs directly, but is it a great leap of imagination to think they could strongarm their most prominent ally into using them? I don't think it is.

I think Iran are going to end up wishing they'd invested in some better jets and AA…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,454 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

lol you could say the same about Ukraine

Israel is doing this not because Iran nearly has a bomb. Israel is doing this because they feel they will get away with it. They feel with Trump at the helm they'll get away with murder. Literally. So they think its a great time to create some facts.

And the west goes with it. Exposing its whinging and whining over Ukraine as the massive lie and hypocrisy it always was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,426 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

They (Israel) could have to do far more than quite surgically destroy the nuke programme with some selected US help in fairness, though it looks like they may actually be able to manage to pull it all off, if the numbers of missiles and drones Iran fires are rapidly tailing off. Getting the US to help directly I think will make it certain, safer and much faster.

They need to find and destroy all stockpiles/mobile launchers for the missiles and drones (seems to be well under way). If regime doesn't actually collapse after the nuclear programme and their stocks of long range strike weapons are wrecked and they can't fire missiles and drones for a while, the domestic manufacturing capability, scientific/industrial base and much of Iran's infrastructure that enabled it all will need to go poof as well.

I kind of doubt the IAF or even the USAF joining in can break the stranglehold of the Revolutionary Guard and the Basij over Iran from the air without maybe also reducing the country to rubble. I don't think Israel (under current govt.) cares really and their cynicism is bottomless.

A weak almost failed state similar to likes of Libya, Iraq, Syria etc. that will end up as just a source of chaos, terrorist attacks, and desperate refugees for Western Europe is probably is an outcome they would prefer here vs the mullahs actually falling quickly due to the bombing (and decent majority of the pop. hating the govt.), and something organised and more democratic rapidly appearing in their place + there being some continuity of the state.

We could get a lot of Iranian exiles over here in Europe if it all goes bad. I hope any types who toot their horn for Israel and the Donald here, and also appear on other threads blowing steam about "fugees" and unvetted males etc. will take in a couple each. Double up the beds and squeeeeze over like.🛌

Israel is not a terrorist regime. They’re a democratic country in the middle east surrounded by countries and peoples who want to destroy them.

The irony here is that all the people jumping in to bash Israel on these threads would choose to live under Israeli life than any these countries wanting to wipe them out.

They also have "the most moral army in the world". Their Tik Tok videos are a paragon of virtue and innocence.

I'd live anywhere than a Genocidal Terrorist Nation that is a Pariah on the world stage.

Seems you're saying you'd love it there - that says an awful lot…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,906 ✭✭✭silliussoddius

Iran is a toilet, there isn't a chance that most people pulling some kind of soft, mealy mouthed defense for them would ever live under the regime 9although I suspect many may join it). Especially hilarious when you consider the Irish people that do this are also critical of catholic Ireland, when the Iranian regime makes catholic Ireland look like the playboy mansion. Then there is all their meddling in the region which does nothing but bring misery to the everyday population.

Of course this doesn't mean I like to see wars just kicked off; we don't know if the population will get behind the regime, if the regime collapses will there be some kind of civil war etc.

But ultimately in this debate, I'm not being a tankie for Iran (and Russia).

So I guess you just came out and said it. We attack countries because we dont like them. 'Iran is a toilet'. It's clear you know f*** all about Iran. You just have your ignorant arrogance.

Anyway. Was the same with Iraq. First it was they have WMDs which was a lie. Then it was ah 'Iraq is a toilet' what harm. Then the entire region went to sh1t. Hundreds of thousands if not millions died. But sure what harm its only fkn toilet Arabs.

And people actually find this acceptable and defend it. F****** hell.

Genuine question do you actually believe that statement "Israel is not a terrorist regime"

If so it's frighting. They are currently via the IDF and some politicians are causing terror on multiple populations.

What is a terrorist regime in your view?
