If America does directly intervene, it would be in a conflict that America did not start. Therefore, Trump would not be breaking the promise that he made to voters on the issue of starting wars. Actually, destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities (and maybe also the elimination of Khamenei) without a single GI setting foot in Iran would be politically beneficial to the Republicans because such action would help to end the conflict.

Aren’t they just rather belatedly warning their citizens about the war?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭combat14

looks like a significant chance US will get involved if Iran doesnt sign Trumps deal

they already have had decades how much more time will Trump give them

Trump has called a meeting for a couple hours time. Something is up I feel. Maybe America is joining the bombing run on the nuclear facilities or the Supreme Leader is dead.

I think China fears an all out final retaliation by Iran. But tonight was meant to have a huge response and 10-15 launches was all

Although you're point makes sense about common sense of leaving a war zone.

Trump’s Tehran ‘evacuation’ warning ‘extremely troubling’: Analyst

Matthew Duss, the executive vice president of the Washington, DC-based Center for International Policy think tank, said that Trump’s warning that Tehran’s entire population should evacuate the city was “frankly terrifying”.

“This is a metropolitan area of over 15 million people. Evacuating a city of that size is impossible, even before you consider the fact that people don’t have access to gasoline. They would have to be fleeing on foot,” Duss told Al Jazeera.

“But, unfortunately, it’s hard to know how seriously to take what Donald Trump says… But still, this kind of language from a president of the United States is extremely troubling. We should all be concerned,” he said.

Trump had earlier written in a post on his Truth Social platform: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

    ....

hard to believe a US president would advise a whole city to evacuate not even Putin advised Kyiv residents to flee

    ''Evacuate Tehran,'' 17 million.

What are they planning, another Hiroshima

You'll need to go back longer than 40 years. In 1953 Mosaddegh was overthrown by a coup orchestrated by the US and UK because he was going to nationalise Iranian oil. Iranian oil reserves are the real reason why the west has always had an interest in Iran and the region as a whole.

Mosaddegh was ousted and the west put their puppet, Shah Pahlavi, in power, who subsequently went around the place with his death squads. Iran may have been relatively "secular", but was in no way a nice place to live. Fast forward to 1979 and the result was the overthrow of the Shah during the Iranian Revolution by a population that had had enough of his tyranny.

Had the west (i.e. America) stayed out of the region, Iran would be a very different place today.

Utter madness ….. Netanyahu needs to go …… you'd find more intelligence and maturity in a kindergarten fight than in Netanyahu's cabinet …… where in the name of hell are the accountants and economic advisors to the shambolic Israeli excuse for govt ???? !!!!! ……

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭lumphammer2

Trump and Netanyahu = 2 imbeciles with 0 brains between them ….. it is v clear that a tiny province like so-called Israel ….. more like America's little colony …. could not do this alone …… the power comes from Trump's America …… and this is Trump's beloved Iran war which Covid stopped back in 2020 ….. pure evil and utter madness …… where are the economic advisors and accountants ??? …. are there any sane people left to stop this perpetual war ??? …. anyone who voted for Trump or Netanyahu thinking they'd end wars need their heads examined ….. if either were the only life on earth they'd fight with themselves !!!! …. only hope is Iran can grind down Trump/Netanyahu like they once did Saddam ….. and wake up the Israeli/American people to get them to overthrow Netanyahu/Trump ….. because if the people of Israel and America do not differentiate themselves from their so-called governments they will be subjected to terrorism for year to come ….. does Netanyahu/Trump really still believe they can solve all world problems via war and violence ???? …. do they not realise that this very carry on in Iraq lead to murderous ISIS misery ???? ….. and world recession ….. are they too thick to realise they are bringing death and destruction to their own people and making the world hate their countries ??? …. I do not think they have the brains to realise any of this ….. Trump was never bright … it has been said he got another to do exams for him … and Netanyahu was supposed to be an architect …. but he does not show he is any more intelligent than Trump is …. if anything he comes across as less intelligent than Trump ….. in any way and could well have made up his background …… neither of these 2 show any intelligent leadership or diplomat skills whatsoever ….. 100% unfit to manage an office of 2 let alone a country ……

I think Israel are trying to bomb nuclear reactors. I imagine this would pose a great risk of radiation exposure nearby, if not explosions.

You could almost imagine them dropping a nuclear bomb and claiming they hit an Iranian weapon with a conventional explosive. I doubt that is realistic, but it's not too far away from the direction things have been going.

Netanyahu would need to watch out in case he is pinched for a war criminal charge-

Some of his generals- bomb dropping pilots etc could face future charges-

It's just Trump being Trump. He's probably pissed off that three days have passed without him dominating the news cycle and needs attention

So far nothing that we know of has happened. But a huge amount of US assets has been moved into the middle east

They're trying to put pressure on and collapse the regime.

Even before Trump said that every road out of Tehran was completely clogged as it was.

Iran is defenseless. IAF is operating with complete impunity and dismantling and destroying everything they have.

    Officially…
There's been brown suitcases flowing up until very recetly.
It was even brought up in the Israeli parliment a few years ago stating that the cash flow needs to stop.

Stranger things have happened in the last 5 years man.
It may not be "official" but you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be there in some capacity…. that's how Cold Wars work.

14 dead and 40 injured in Kiev after a night of attacks by Iranian shaheed drones caught on video too

I fully expect the far left to spend the following pages condemning the use of Iranian terrorism drones against innocent people right here in Europe

I don't think the Iranians will give up, many of them remember pre-1979.

My guess is they want a deal where Israel gives up something too. This is strategically and politically a no go for Israel.

That effectively means bombing the general population into oblivion… and we know Israel will have absolutely 0 qualms about leveling a cities…

Israel's largest oil refinery and petrochemical facility has been totally shut down. The attack happened on Sunday but due to Israel's censorship on reporting details are just coming out now.

The site is responsible for refining the majority of jet fuel in the country.

Three oil tankers reportedly on fire in the gulf of Oman after a possible collision.

Yesterday the GPS had major problems so maybe connected with that given the narrow width of the Hormuz strait

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported significant GPS interference across the Persian Gulf, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz region

No this is Europe in 2025 (and 2024,2023,2022) being attacked by Iranian drones

And you still have people defending the Iranian and Putin regimes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,415 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

It evidently is satire as that is Russia attacking Ukraine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 839 ✭✭✭poop emoji

    With Iranian shaheed drones

You think so many innocent people dead and wounded is “satire”?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,686 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Looks like the US are going to flatten Iran's nuclear capabilities

Trump said he wanted a “real end” to the nuclear problem with Iran, with Iran “giving up entirely” on nuclear weapons, according to comments that were posted by a CBS News reporter on X.

And many countries have told their citizens to vacate Iran

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,415 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

Clearly not but your use of Iranian when it is infact Russia attacking Ukraine is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,637 ✭✭✭brickster69

I thought it was illegal to attack nuclear facilities, does that mean all attacks on nuclear facilities are now fair game ?

I wonder what would happen to Israel's facilities if a 500 kg warhead travelling at 5000 metres /sec would do ? Dangerous stuff which reeks of total desperation.

I don't see anyone defending the Iranian regime. It feels like some people are shadow boxing here.

Pretty much everyone (bar the obvious re-reg trolls) is in agreement that the Iranian regime is awful and responsible for countless human rights abused and possible war crimes.

On the other hand, Israel are also responsible for countless human rights abused and war crimes. This current campaign is cynical and purely to keep the current government out of the courts and in power.

The problem here is, not the Iranian regime, which would have trundled along, but the Israeli escalation destabilising the region. If this has an impact on the Russian effort, that's great but if the overall effect is increasing tensions and hostilities over a larger area then probably not so great. Especially considering Israel aren't doing this for the sake of Europe or Ukraine.

You can't go around taking illegal actions and say "oh hey, but it's for your sake! I'm doing this for you!"

Russians attacking innocent civilians night after night with Iranian drones

Does this make you feel better?

The Iranian, Russian, North Korean axis of fascism has already caused more casualties in Ukraine than there are people alive in Gaza

The far left are so obsessed with Israel (who have themselves turned into a theocracy) that they would go out of their way to ignore the elephant in the room with a swastika on its side that represents an alliance of criminal states that repress their own and attack innocents outside their ever expanding borders
