You would like that but Iran is a paper tiger, it seems. One wonders if the IAF keeps pounding it, how humilating it will be for the regime that it can't stop those pesky Jews from killing their top generals and officials at will.

The legitimacy of the regime will be in question.

They are much better at murdering children alright. I'd just like to see them get a bloody nose for a change. Iran doesn't seem to be short of generals either .. or missiles.

What do you think about the US and others supplying weapons to Israel? Like the 2000lb bombs with a kill radius of nearly a kilometer? They have provided weaponry that has killed upwards of 200,000.

Do you think people who support those suppliers can go f themselves too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,662 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

What can they do, though? The IAF seems to have complete air supremacy. Iran has next to no air power and may have some missiles but even they appear to be more limited in number and capability.

Well the Yanks have a poor history in conflicts of late too. Fled Afghanistan and left it to the Taliban, Fled Vietnam with their tails between their legs too. Bigger is not always better.

Seems like you're really enjoying this.

And if Iran is pummelled to rubble like Gaza, will you celebrate?

Entirely unsurprising that some of the same voices regularly engaging in whataboutery in defense of British actions in NI and accusing anyone who criticises it of being a Provo supporter on other threads are engaging in whataboutery when it comes to the atrocities being carried out by Israel and accusing anyone who criticises it of antisemitism on this thread.

Maybe Israel shouldn't just have a free pass to bomb and murder whoever they want because of atrocities 80 years ago? Maybe reasonable people could criticise indiscriminate bombing without it being taken as tacit support for Hamas or the Iranian government? Maybe just once, a single valid criticism of the Israeli regime and Netanyahu could be addressed honestly without hiding behind bullsh*t antisemitism accusations?

It seems a bit like there's absolutely nothing some folk wouldn't defend hiding behind vague references to the Holocaust and antisemitism.

The US were on the verge of a deal, not Israel.

We could go back and forth about who did what to who back as far as the 1950s.

The Arab countries around Israel have been kept in a state of disarray since the end of WW2. Israel with US support has played an important part in that.

The issue Israel has is that it grants citizenship to nearly any Jewish person. The problem is that no rationally minded person regardless of their religion is gonna emigrate to a place like Israel given where you will settle/live probably belonged to a Palestinian person not so long ago. (And was taken off them, one way or the other). And so the people that turn up are a very much right leaning on the political spectrum. So much so, that the last Israeli PM to do a peace deal got shot by an Israeli.

And just so we are absolutely clear... Israel created Hamas and funded it covertly via the UAE and Qatar for years. The Israelis did not want a strong Fatah party.

Well that would be true if I was. But you must, once again, have missed the key parts of my posts that show I'm peddling nothing.

That you ignore links given to you means you're happy enough to remain ignorant of the facts - and that's fine.

And just repeating the same accusation over and over will not make it stick, except in your own mind maybe. The Israelis thinks the same tactic works for them - you're simply parroting the Hasbara and it appears you don't even know it. Or maybe you do?

Anyhow - crack on with the name-calling. Seems it's all you have left.

I'd seen that many airspace's in the region are closed to at least civilian traffic so thanks for the confirmation.
Seems some have difficulty with the facts - might have burst the eager pronouncement bubble. Rather embarrassing to have been caught out I would have thought.

Russia build Iranian drones under licence now.

Iran stopped supplying them this year. (I think)

You'd need multiple hits with powerful warheads to sink a carrier. They're notoriously difficult to sink with surface to surface weapons

My own thinking is that unless the US get involved, all Israel will be able to do is knock back enrichment maybe 1 or 2 years. Iran is vast. Finding everything will be next to impossible.

They're targeting mainly IRG, possibly trying to get regime change (army take over). If the USA gets involved then it's very likely China will get involved and Chinese SAM systems will pop up all over Iran with the goal of shooting down an F-35 and dismantling it's secrets for use in the next war in South China Sea.

Jordan has told Israel they will guarantee Israeli security if Palestine is allowed to exist as per 1967 UN resolution. Israel has no interest in that however.

I think it's deeply wrong and should stop. I'm curious however why Irish people seem happy to defend a regime assisting a war of aggression within our own continent. To be blunt what happens In Ukraine has a far greater impact on Ireland than what happens in Gaza

Apparently you've never heard of the Shahed drone, or its variant the Geran (which is basically a series of 'Russian' drones made in Russia with Iranian parts and expertise).

    Shahed drones - Wikipedia

There is no way that Russia could have terrorised Ukrainians as extensively as they have done without the instrumental help and full backing of the Ayatollah's evil regime.

Speaking of generals, they seem to be getting knocked off one by one.

Mossad has them all in their sights, it seems.

This is not a war with boots on the ground. That is not going to happen.

It will be a war to either delay or destroy completely Iran's nuclear program and/or try and change the regime in Iran.

Hard to measure that exactly, but that is the aim.

some serious mind games tonight from President Trump:

"Iran should have signed the “deal” I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"

    DJT Truth Social

*note tehran has about 15.5 million people so immediate evacuation could be at the very least difficult

Seems a lot of Irish people (or at least people posting here) seem to have a major issue with Iran supplying weaponry to Russia but no problem with the US and others providing similar to Israel to assist in the carrying out of Genocide. Presumably you're curious about them being happy with state of affairs and the palpable hypocrisy too?

Certainly the war between Iran and Israel will have an impact - just watch the forecourt prices rack up in coming days and weeks. Just like they did when Russia attacked Ukraine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,662 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

And just so we are absolutely clear... Israel created Hamas and funded it covertly via the UAE and Qatar for years. The Israelis did not want a strong Fatah party.

    Funding stopped in 1989.

China getting involved? Not a hope in hell that is going to happen.

US involvement will be down to using some bunker-busting bombs to finish off some hard-to-reach nuclear facilities.

Otherwise the IAF will do what it does, with US ammo and help.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Do you hold the same view of the US supplying 2000lb bombs to Israel to drop on Gaza?

Presumably you think Nikki Haley is evil too - to avoid being called a hypocrite?

I keep thinking this will last just a few days, but things seem to be ramping up. With air supremacy this could go on for awhile. On the flipside, it's a long way from Israel and I believe each aerial journey requires mid-air refuelling. Limiting how many strikes they can do daily

Well, it looks like the Iranian regime has to finally pay the bill for all the provocation it has stirred up in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia, must be loving this. It is no secret that Iran and Saudi Arabia are two bitter enemies in the Middle East.

Also, I always get a laugh at how the Jordanian airforce and air defences help Israel.

The sooner the Iranian regime is toppled, the better... unless people think publicly hanging gay people by a crane is somehow the hallmark of a regime that should be protected?

Clever word play may win debates, but it doesn't make it true.

Understanding and explaining things, is not the same as justifying them, if in doubt… please re-read this statement.

    No.

Seems you're deflecting and avoiding the question. Hopefully you'll answer but I suspect you mightn't - though that would demonstrate hipocrisy of course.

So back to the question I asked you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,662 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

I have yet to hear you say ANYTHING negative about the Iranian regime.

Can you list a few things?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭combat14

lots from Trump on iran tonight apparently he is leaving G7 early tonight to focus on middle east...

A few moments ago, Trump posted on Truth Social: "AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Either America is about to blow up Irans underground nuclear facilities or it's given Israel the airpower to do it.
