Anyone following Tousi TV for updates on Iran? Seems to have the inside line on what's happening there ahead of mainstream media.

Never knew most young Iranians speak English and islam is apparently in decline in Iran.

How often do the overthrow of these kind of regimes lead to secular western democracy prevailing? What kind of Governments do they have in Iraq and Libya at the moment. As for Syria it is now run by a repackaged jihadist. It just shows there is hope for anyone if they make the right alliances of having their image rebranded over time

Also this bombing campaign by Israel could well get people not hugely fond of the regime to unite behind it.

I think it should be made clear most people have a strong hatred of the Israeli government which is an extreme right wing coalition which has chosen to inflict bombing and mass starvation and genocide on an civilian population and is happy to bomb hospitals and kill medical or un aid workers .To hate trump,s policys on Gaza or the IDF is not an act of anti semitism or anti American racism . We must remember there are political party's and Jews that are 100 per cent against the genocide in Gaza or the shooting of protestors and aid workers

Iran was the most secular state in the ME before the US and Israel got involved in the first place 40 years ago

Two things can be true you know.

1 Israeli conduct in Gaza has gone way too far, the withholding of aid and starvation of a civilian population is unjustifiable.

2 Iran is a horrific regime which has been funding terrorist groups all over the ME, from Hamas Houthis are Hezbollah, and we haven't even left the letter H. Most importantly Iran has been supplying a large number of drones which is helping a war of expansion here in Europe. Thousands of Ukraine citizens have been killed because of Iran. One of the reasons Ireland is spending in the billions every year on Ukranian refugees is because these people are fleeing Iranian supplied weapons.

Anyone defending Iran or hoping they actually get some kind of victory here, just because they hate Israel, can frankly go Fcuk themselves.

Iran using their hypersonic weapons is a game changer. The missile defense shields do not work against these weapons.

The Americans will be very nervous that their carriers could be sunk.

What happens if the Nimitz ends up on the sea floor?

Iran won't attack the US unless they're under threat of defeat

Israel need to deescalate immediately or this can get really bad

I've never been to Iran, but despite the hardline stance of its leaders, I have seen overwhelmingly positive reports of the ordinary people from western travellers. Like, ridiculously hospitable, practically dragging tourists off the street to come have dinner with their family and so on. A good deal of this could be down to actively wanting to challenge the image of Iran as an unwelcoming place or just being so unused to seeing western tourists in their place that they just go a bit overboard, but still it's a weird dichotomy.

    @Dick phelan

Anyone defending Iran or hoping they actually get some kind of victory here, just because they hate Israel, can frankly go Fcuk themselves.

Maybe some people hate Israel, I don't know, but I think a lot more are just frustrated that Israel are seemingly allowed to pound Gaza without end and with impunity, receiving little to no censure or sanction from western governments, despite the protestations of their peoples. So that brings us to the f'd up situation where the only hope of a splash of cold water in the face of the Netanyahu government is rocket attacks from Iran maybe possibly forcing them into some kind of compromise.

I don't see how anyone is going to get what they can call a victory out of this. It's a mess far greater than picking a side and willing them on is capable of fixing.

Trying my best not to sound like a doomed person, but the world needs to speak now. No way can we just collectively allow ourselves to let this somehow sort itself out. Not with the amount of ill-will and overall distrust on display by the main figures

Most people are good. But everyone is vulnerable to being corrupted by propaganda or radicalised by the oppressive actions of other people

Pakistan Defense Minister: “Israel is a rogue state, no international laws apply to it. If the world sees Israel as above international laws, there will be no peace in the region.

Israel's sponsor must understand that he is pushing the world into a dark well, these actions will create chaos not only in the Middle East but also in the entire world.

Israel is attacking one country after another, while Western democratic countries are being blackmailed by the Zionist lobby. No one holds Israel accountable for its destructive activities.”

Nail on the head, also if anyone was ever in any doubt which country controls the United States.....

You must have missed my last para.

If you read my link though, you will see that Israel supported Hamas at least up until 2023. But happy to see your debunking links if you want to post them.

But now that Hamas are a busted flush, alleged War Criminal #1 (at large) is now funding criminals in Gaza, who were/are stealing aid meant for innocent civilians. Oh the irony - but birds of a feather and all that.

And isn't remarkable how there is massive outrage about terrorists in Gaza but supporters ignore that the Security Minister, sitting in the Knesset, is a convicted terrorist (Ben-Gvir). Remarkable indeed.

Even more remarkable is that whilst you seem to support the Israeli regime, many Israelis actually don't. They want to see Netanyahu in prison for corruption and for leading their Nation down to the 9th circle of hell.

Not sure but Iran is getting its arse handed to it.

Hypersonic missles can be shot down, its just harder.

If the US get involved, Iran would be done in a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Well, Netanyahu, alleged War Criminal at large, needs to be careful where he goes or he'll end up sharing a cell with Duterte in The Hague.
Yoav Gallant as well of course - though he got sacked for being too soft for presumably not killing enough Palestinians.

A note to others but Jordan, Syria and Iraq are allowing the IAF fly over its airspace in order to attack Iran.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,394 ✭✭✭✭briany

"….while Western democratic countries are being blackmailed by the Zionist lobby…."

I've heard this claim before but it doesn't go into many specifics about who this lobby is, what exactly their blackmailing ammunition is, or why they are apparently so powerful.

Are there people of a hardcore Zionist bent with the money to influence elections and things? I'm sure there are, but are there no people of an opposing view who have money to influence politics in the opposite direction?

Not seeing anyone defending the Iranian Regime. Care to quote a few posts?

It's a little worrying that you think demonising Genocide and War Crimes is "a strange visceral hate".

Are you a supporter of the killing and starvation of Gazans and the abandonment of the Israeli hostages and their families?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,770 ✭✭✭circadian

Yes, because further escalation is what will solve this problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,662 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

You seem obsessed with that line of thinking, but you are still peddling a conspiracy theory that Israel funded the October 7th attacks.

You said in the past that you have been accused of being anti-Semitic several times. One way to nip that in the bud is to stop peddling conspiracy theories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,662 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

Depends on what problem Israel or the US wants to solve.

He's not wrong. Israel is a rogue state and needs to be stopped. Just maybe Iran will give them their fill of it and put manners on them.

I wouldn't expect to be agreeing with a minister from Pakistan but it's hard to disagree with a single word he says. Western governments are shredding the international order and international law to accommodate Israel and the Zionist lobby - leaving the world a much more dangerous place.

It's probably the most bizarre and surreal spectacle of the last 30 years in geopolitics. Are the Israelis blackmailing them or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭dmcdona

    No sane person would.

But we're not talking about a sane person - this is Israel. In full on berserker mode.

What sane person would execute 15 medics and bury them and their vehicles in the sand and then deny it? But oh Lordy, there was video footage proving their lies.

Perhaps Israel are just trying to be very clever and pretend to move people to "safe areas" then bomb them anyway. Just like the lad on his intravenous drip burning to death in his tent - again, caught on video.

Syria and Iraq aren’t allowing them to fly over their airspace its more that they are powerless to stop them,a large portion of Iraqi airspace is actually still controlled by America and the Iraqi government asked the US to not allow them through but their calls were ignored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,108 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

They definitely exist and are not just a conspiracy theory. Look at that 'Labour Friends of Israel' outfit - it's said that a large number of Starmer's cabinet are members and rumours that they have all received hefty 'donations' in the past.

Probably, but if they're already cornered what do they have to lose?

It reminds me a quite a lot of the 'Jews control America' anti semitic trope you see thrown around.

Have yet to see evidence produced for either that doesn't amount to 'Deep State' level conspiratorial nonsense.

Israel wouldn't be so good if the Yanks weren't backing them. The country is nearly bankrupt thankfully. Iran getting plenty of missiles through too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭dmcdona

I disagree - no-one hates "Israel". The Israeli govt. is perpetrating War Crimes and Genocide on innocent civilians. And now they are attacking Iran.

But I'd certainly agree that those who support the murder spree of the last 18 months likely belong in the 9th circle of Hell.

Iran bad, Israel badder. Any country starving millions of people is hardly is hardly worthy of any appreciation.
