    Hello.

I'm hoping someone can advise which, if either, is the better Diploma in Taxation qualification to get - the Irish Taxation Institute or Chartered Accountants Ireland for an Irish Accounting Technician? On the face of it they look very similar in terms of syllabus and assessment but can anyone advise if there is anything else I should know about? Maybe quality of tutoring, market preference etc.?

    Thanks,

    John

I dont think either are all that desired by employers so dont think it would make much different which it would be. The Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) designation with the ITI but i dont think either the CAI or ATI courses you listed would be the making of a career. In theory the ITI one should lead onto the CTA so its probably the one to go with if you’re looking to do one of those two

I did the ITI one. It was fine, not too difficult. It was all assignment based from what I recall. I did it as a tax. refresher for a new role I had started - and it was fine for that purpose.

In terms of a decent, recognisable tax qualification, I'd say it's not that recognisable. I'm sure the CAI one is similar, but I couldn't say that with any real authority
