trim door height

    Looking to fit a new back door. Door is just 75 inches tall so will need to trim any standard door. Would it be ok to take 3 inches off this door? Presumably I would take 1.5 off the top and bottom. Just wondering would it damage the structure of the door doing this? Thanks.
